Don't we have a concurrent thread about the same slippery patch of road?

Perhaps oil in road, the way the pavement heats up or doesn't for that matter in a particular spot, a small knuckle in the road that is hard to make out and causes slight weight/traction loss in the rear end..........
I agree with you; just there are places like that one in many public roads.

Nothing visible reveals a problem, but definitely, there is less friction on that area (may be repair works with different materials, constant flow of water over it, little ripples, etc.).

As a rule of thumb, acceleration and lean angle should be moderated while going uphill, since more weight is naturally on the rear tire.

I feel that so many people lose their **** because of a combination of factors there, it's a popular spot so everyone is trying to show off and then there is probably oil or debris on the road due to other people crashing making it more dangerous and on top of that the arc of the corner is a lot tighter at the end then a lot of people seem to think and they don't enter it with the positioning to take that into account

i agree about the oil and sand there, and the spiral radius adds challenge since a slow down is necessary to not lose control. the banking of the road also is deceiving, people could actually be leaning about 8% more than a level road.

OK, I have the lowdown on these Mulholland crashes.

I was watching the latest moron highside and I started to look at their lines. All the idiots that crash come across the dark patch then follow the dark stripe on the outer part of their lane (outside). As I watched the elbow dragger and others who aren't crashing I noticed they take the line I would take, hugging the center line (double solid line) which not only gives you room for mistake but also KEEPS YOU OFF THE MARBLES left by the dozens of showoffs posing for the camera. As you know bits of rubber come off the tires as you turn and pile up on the outside of the track, or road, causing "marbles" which will make you lose traction and make a great crash camera shot.

Problem solved.

its not even that bad. the grip level there is fine especially compared to the rest of the road toward the rock store. the reason people crash there is because rnicky and his girlfriend sit out there with cameras and squids who don't know what they are doing try to get a knee down. the knight rider twins are good riders and live there and ride the road every other day. people who frequent the road take it just fine. its retards who don't know what they are doing and want a picture of them "being a badass" that cause all the trouble. at least people like clemson or the guys on gmr change locations and dont scout the place people crash the most trying to get them to show off there (resulting in a higher likelyhood of them crashing and the camera man filming it).

Painful to watch scooter crash at Mulholland

Link to original page on YouTube.

Watching the slow-mo replay I found myself saying "knee knee KNEE KNEE KNEE!!" I think his knee just missed the tarmac

Can't believe he almost fell backwards off the guardrail after surviving that wipeout

He was just trying to match the damage of the right knee.

This place attracts very peculiar people.

I believe that it was all carefully planned: the DZ sign on the road stands for "Drop the Zcooter".

If he was not wearing that helmet, he does not stand back up. Here in PA that is an option.

but he's not wearing a full face LOL
if he got whipped around the other way he wouldn't have a face at all, it would have been whipped into the guard rail.
crocs..wow. I wouldn't wear them even if I was driving a car. Actually I wouldn't wear them period!

Good vid, Chris.

A pre-gen at 8:30 !

Is the girl a new trick from rnickymouse to induce crashes?

Love the old bikes and old riders just enjoying the view !!!

Watching it, I wonder why a guardrail more forgiving for motorcycle's low-sides has not been installed at such a popular point............you know, the type covering the posts.

First and most important, are those the Lululemon Yoga pants?

Second, what a bunch of noobs. Not a single wheelie coming out of the turn.

Third, nice McLaren. Was that a Yenko Nova?
