@!#$! Bike got stolen

Dammit! Went out of town for a few days, came back Friday morning to the bike being gone.

Not just the fact that the bike got stolen, but all the work I put into it. If I get another pregen 250, I'll have a hell of a time finding another muzzy 2-1 header for the bike. I have a $500 deductible on it too, so not sure what I'm actually gonna get out it on the insurance side. On top of that, I have to wait 30 days for the pay out.

Guess I'll be looking into getting a newgen 250 this summer. And possibly a way to lock it up :/

Ah hell, that seriously blows. Sorry to hear that

This is why I roll our bikes into our livingroom whenever we go out of town. Hope everything works out for ya.

Those are the best of all the Ninjettes, especially the 2007

Sorry to read this, it may have been just a joy ride and she could appear somewhere soon.

Sorry to hear this...

The only method i could see working is hiding it in a garage with an alarm.

Any other physical lock down methods, can be overcome by a thief pretty easy.

Very sorry to hear that. Can't stand hearing this whenever it pops up.

A guy at work here in Little Rock got his pre-gen stolen a month ago too. It ended up found, steering lock broken and had been wrecked, but actually not too bad, just looked cosmetic. The problem is that by the time the police called him, the bike was already there for a week, and had amassed a $900 storage bill. The impounds here are privatized. Guess who had to pay it.

I was kind think as well that the only people who steal a pregen are the ones just looking to take it for a joyride. I'm mean the things are worth much compared to just about any other bike out there. I wouldn't be surprised if this bike showed up in a few weeks after the thief ditched the bike, unfortunately they are almost always damaged in the process

Insurance would probably have it covered, but considering the damaged they would of probably totaled it and paid you out.

THIEVES suck! Hopefully you get it back!

I know a guy who had his bike stolen and then had it recovered a week later. Local member saw the police chase with stolen bike near his work.

Keep an eye on local and nearby Craigslists. Have heard of more than a few people who got leads which led to their bikes being recovered that way.

How would someone have a title to a stolen frame, and advertise the vin, if it was indeed stolen? Keep looking

Heh, that made me laugh

I usually bring my Ninja into the front living room (have tiled flooring) for when I go out of town, but I had grown comfortable leaving it out. I figured, like someone else said, who steals a ninja 250 pregen? I might never figure out who, but I definitely know that someone does ;>_>

Even if I was home, they could have taken it without me noticing - even with it parked right in front of my house. I'm gonna look into some noise alarm device, or make my own, for my next bike.

It'd been almost two months. Bike was never recovered. Geico appraised the bike at $2600 and cut a check for $2100 this past friday ($500 deductible). Just purchased a 2004 ZX-6r today. No more 250r for me Until I can find one for cheap to tinker with

It's sad as hell to lose your baby but you've got a check coming in (that's hopefully large enough to ease you off) and if it helps at all, at least the new gen wires are all plug and play, they're sexier, and you wouldn't need a 2-1 header (correction: aftermarket header since it's already 2-1)

Regardless of that, it does suck. I actually put emphasis on theft coverage on my policy but of course I had to dump my bike without the policy being correctly made to cover collision. So I would've much preferred it being stolen than trashed.

Don't know what to say but for now, chill out, relax a little on the not-so-edgy-but-safer-side of the world for a few weeks, grab another bike, and live again or ride your bike up and down the area looking for any bike chop shops to burn down.

Cost wise or work wise? Cost wise, probably about $300. The clip-ons were $50 shipped (chinese ones, but they worked great). The full, but used, muzzy exhaust I got from ebay for $220 shipped. I bought 14 took front sprocket (they ended up giving me two) for $20.

But I did a lot of work on the upper front fairing. I cut a lot out and reshaped it, for it to get that supersport lean. Matter of fact, the forward lean is even more aggressive than this 2004 ZX-6R that I got - if you can believe that. Made the 250 a blast to ride.

Update:

Been riding the zx-6r for a few days. While not a nibble as the 250 (IMO), it was a pretty easy transition. It handles really nice. I just got back from cyclegear and purchased a XZZ6L disc/alarm lock. It's pretty loud. When I get the funds, gonna get a lojack.

I love the 2004-2005 ZX-6Rs! I had a 2004 ZX-6RR in green it was awesome! Until a mouse ate through most of the wiring harness while it was in storage.

Is your's the ZX-6R with the 636cc engine? What color is it? Got any pics yet?

I wonder if it would crush on the newer bikes that have become more restricted by emission laws and standards?

Congrats on the new ride! Sucks that you got your 250 stolen though.

Here's a picture of my baby. I really miss it a lot. But my new ZX6R is sexy, but in a different way. I loved the more curved design of the 04-05 bike. I think I liked that look more than the new bike look that is popular today.

Not gonna lie.. really love this zx6r Yeah, it's a 636. 2004 with 10k miles on it (assuming I didn't get scammed by a different installed OD/setup). Really clean, though (lower fairings need to be replace due to small cracks). The bad.. it's silver. Not my choice of color. Been looking around for a decent color scheme to go with (both my brother and I can and do spray fine finishes including auto paint. So not a problem). The crispness and fast throttle response is pure sex. So is the sound of the engine at more open throttle (have not done WOT yet) above 8k... pure sex!

I really like the '05+ swingarm on the zx6r. So that's high on my list, to mod/swap it (people have done it, not too difficult).

I like the Kawasaki signature green/black look. Nice bike, c-dog. Not much to look at, but here's a video of mine: https://vimeo.com/72622604

Ended up not getting a 250/300. Though was very close to it (there was a 2012 250r with 3k miles on it that I was going to look at next, after this zx6r).

You're probably. I didn't really think about that. I had a buddy come over and ride the 250r with the clip on mod, and he loved it. He's been riding his '04 R6 for four years now. So maybe that says something.

I bought the 2007 250r for $1700. Put $300 into it (did all the work and value adjustment myself). Insurance rated it at 2400+tax for a total of $2609. After $500 deductible, I got a check for $2109. I bought this ZX6R for $2800.

Insurance didn't really go up that much. From $200 a year to $300 a year. It'll drop down to $286 a year once I get my motorcycle safety class cert (whatever it's called). That's base+collision/theft.

Looks nice! Sounds good too.

I forgot, it's been awhile since I had mine - what does the lever on the left bar do again? Is it like an idle adjuster (besides the one down lower on the engine case) - I used to know what it did.
