New M1, new member here

Just got my M1, and just bought a bike. Got a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 250, in yellow. I've taken the CHP motorcycle training course, and my honey is mentoring me now that I have my license and a bike.

My first on-road ride was today, just around town a bit. I'm hooked! This is fun!

I was wondering what an M1 license was. Had to look it up. I was wondering if CA had implemented a displacement tiered licensing system like many other countries use.

Not quite the same, only 2 tiers, M1 any motorcycle, M2 is low powered scooters and mopeds.

Oh and Welcome Caligrrl, enjoy your ninjette, they are great bikes.

Actually, it wasn't that hard to get. I had to take a written test, and then there's a driving test. I took a safety class, and during the class, they did the driving test. And then I have my license!

Each state does, yes, though they do tend to be similar.

No worries! Each state allows me to drive in it, if I'm licensed in my home state, without changing it over. So my California license lets me drive when we went to Montana, Nevada, and Colorado. If you move from one state to another, they want you to change to the new state's license fairly quickly, but even then there's some leeway.
