Bought some tires for it! 120/70/17 & 150/70/17 Pirelli Angel GT's. Also got some new pads for the front and rear, and one of the bolts that hold the pads in place. Stripped one, but got it out with an EZ out.

I got around to installing the stock bar end onto my Sv650 clip on since I lost it sometime last year on an excursion. I also picked up some turtle wax. Might return it for Meguiar's since I didn't pick up a clay bar.

I still need to figure out why it takes a while for my bike to start. Engine cranks over fine but it's backfiring a good amount before it fires up.

I stared at it wishing I could ride but then looked outside to snow, ice and negative temps. Spring can not come soon enough.

Finally got around to fixing it up since the accident. Transferred my springs, emulators and damper rods to some newish ebay forks only to find that the triple clamps were bent pretty badly after all. Now the bike will have to sit on its stand until the new clamps arrive in a week or so. Mostly finished fixing up the rear with a new mount for the plate and lights, as well as installing new lights. I got a good deal on some generic aftermarket clutch and brake lever assemblies, but I don't want to get into installing them until after I've finished up with the forks. So I think I'll be spending the time until the clamps arrive investigating the disconcerting wobble the gas tank acquired since the accident and, if i have time, cleaning the carbs.

Gave her a bit of a cleaning this weekend, she's sitting in my kitchen mournfully looking out the window and silently cursing at the snow.

Actually that last part might be me.

Put new tires, break pads, oil change, and fork oil as well as fork seals. How do you know when you need to clean the carbs?

is it running good and has not sat for a long time with nasty gas in it?
If so you are good to go- throw a bit of seafoam into the tank once in a while.
I use techron personally but everyone swears by seafoam.

Debugged, detarred, and clayed the bike. It's been so long since I detailed the bike.

Took it out for a spin out in the country roads. Went WOT and redlined 1st thru 5th with clutchless upshifts. Shifted into 6th and looked down and was doing about 85 mph...

I was trying to catch the Odyssey in front of me but it kept pulling away from me.

2˘ worth time,

If you use quality fuel, and a fuel filter, almost never, my Ninja 500, I haven't touched them in over 4 years.

BUT... The carburetors do have consumable items, like the needle float valve, float bowl seals, and idle mixture needle screw O-rings, etc.... Which are all included in a K&L rebuilding kit.

Keep in mind a proper cleaning is very involved, and meticulous, but not difficult.

Question?
Why the need for clutchless shifts? Was your clutch cable broken?

there's no need for clutchless upshifts but the shifting is smoother and generally faster than when using the clutch. I also wanted to see what the little bike had. it has heart...

I typically will clutchless upshift in any situation that's above leisurely riding anyways. Been doing that for years. Kinda like resting my right index finger on the brake lever... just what I do. It's in every trackday picture and I notice it too when i'm thinking bout it.

clutch cable isn't broken though perhaps a bit stretched as I'm bout at the max on both sides.

I okay just checking, cool.

I do it once in awhile just to keep in practice just in case my cable breaks, otherwise I'm just as fast using it.

I've always found myself faster clutchless on upshifts

if my clutch cable snaps it'll be clutchless downshifting and stops that I'll be worried about, not upshifts

So true, even with proper maintenance they will eventually stretch(EARLY WARNING SIGN), and break.

That's why I always keep that skill sharp, both up & downshifts, I've only had mine break once, and it SUCKED, gotta really plan ahead in a city situation, if possible.

2˘ WORTH:

Install another clutch and zip-tie it to the existing one, an old biker trick, that pays for itself, or use the old stretched one as a backup, or carry a spare. I have one in my tank bag, along with a pull throttle cable.

You could also coil them up, put them in a Ziploc and store them under the seat, etc...

Cheap insurance.

Marvel Mystery Oil, been around for 70 years for a reason, use it.
Just a few ounces in my last tank made a huge difference in how it started and ran after sitting for a few weeks, so i'm sold on it now.

Nope, not at all. Once it is locked in place and strapped down (have yet to do that solo, my Dad helped this time), you just slide the pedal onto the post underneath and pump the jack up. It rocks a bit as it's first coming up off the floor but after two or three pumps, it's a smooth motion.

The table locks in place with a steel bar that bends ever so slightly when lowered down to keep it from falling.

Lowering it down is just gently depressing the other pedal and keeping it smooth vs just dropping it down again.

I can make a video tonight if you want?

It's pretty straightforward how it works so I don't need a video, I was just wondering if it was physically difficult to crank up but it sounds like it's about the equivalent of jacking up a car to swap out a tire/wheel

In my case less effort as I have a manual jack I have to hand crank. Ugg. But yeah, really easy to bring this up and with my little wheelie stool, the oil plug is an easy each. Yay!!

New triple arrived! impressively earlier than I expected. I was so stoked I pretty much dropped what I was doing and started working on the bike. I accidentally missed a class which I don't feel too hot about but I made some real progress.
However, just as I rocked the bike off of the center stand I noticed a single ball bearing that didn't make it back into the stem. whoops. Soooo that's all gonna have to come apart. It's probably for the better though as I should really just give it some new bearings.

oem because I crashed(a car changed lanes into me on the freeway during traffic).
While an aftermarket triple would have been pretty cool I only had the funds for a used oem one. I wanted to switch to some sort of supersport fork set up but I already had money invested in springs and emulators for the 250.
But yeah, i was a little surprised when i found out it was just loose ball bearings. I suppose its not as if its reaching high rpms or something, but a tapered set is high on my list once i know its good to ride again.

Got her a little nekkid in the kitchen today.

Main reason is that I wanted to clean up the extra wiring I had in there in preparation for some upgrades.

Getting rid of this

Going to be replacing it with this instead

Looks cleaner already

Rear seat was also a clear case of WTF was I thinking

Reason I had to remove the fairing is so that I could unhook the wiring for this USB port as well as some of the bits from that alarm.

Have a mechanic picking her up in a week or two to do a full service job as well as install a Koso Gauge, a BKmoto HID kit and wire the stuff I just pulled out onto the fuseblock in a proper, non insane wires flying everywhere manner.

things!

I just need to figure out the wiring for the clutch, probably by trial and error since nothing is marked. I think I'm going to lose the ability to start the bike in neutral with the clutch out but I never really did that anyways.
