the 300 dollar ninjette came with issues
So I bought a 300 dollar 05 ninjette last weekend( couldn't pass it up) and it seemed quite solid and only been standing for like 6 months; fast forward to today, after draining the tank and charging the battery, I fired it up and worked fine and warmed up ok, changed the oil after it was warm along with filter and plugs, assembled it back, and it fires up waaaaaaay better except for the fact that I kept smelling gas, looked down and I'm standing in a small pool of fuel!!!! Seems the fuel overflow tube is leaking like crazy, is this normal or is there something seriously wrong with it?

Are you talking about the tube coming from the carbs, or the gas tank?

Educated guess but sounds like carb overflow, check the floats and float valve.

You need to remove the carbs. Once off, remove the bowls. Under the bowls in each carb there are 2 large cream colored floats connected to a small valve. Basically, when the bowls are full, the valves are closed. If the valves never close the carb will flood and overflow.
Might as well clean the whole carb since you have it out. When you take out the floats, be careful to no bend the little wires that operate the valve pin. Also, remember to replace all the carb screws with hex head while you have it out. If you do a quick search on youtube, there are some great videos for "ninja 250 carb cleaning". Newgen or pregen, the cleaning process is basically the same. And I am sure @Motofool will be here shortly with some great links to removal, cleaning and such. He is great for that. But I am a video person myself. Ask if you need or have any specific questions. I will be happy to help as best I can.

There are few reasons for the valves not closing the flow of gas into the carbs once the proper level is reached: -Harden neoprene of the tip of one or both valves. -Debris between the valve and the seat. -Punctured float. -Level set too high. Thanks guys, those were great vids, but none of these explains how to regulate the floaters level, I'm gonna clean them but it seems this won't solve my leak.

$300 and that's the only issue you have? And it starts?!?! Wow....
You can regulate the float height by adjusting the metal tangs attached to the float valves. A high float = more fuel and vice versa... |

Anyone got 400? LOL, yeah so far that is the only issue. The only reason I got it for 300 is because the dude's fiance was all up in his business to sell it, so he let it go for that price because of that and the threat of getting it towed for having expired tags( apartment complexes around here are quite the dicks about it).
EDIT: I'm dumb and had forgotten about my Clymer manual, it has everything you need to fix this little problem, and amazing diagrams. Best 25 bucks I've ever spent, thanks to all that shed a light on the problem, I will keep you updated on the results after I take them apart this weekend.
