Question Do you ride year round?

So what are your limits on when the bike gets "Put up for the winter"?
(maybe a poll Alex???)
Post the following?
Where do you live (City and or state).
Do you ride "YEAR ROUND"?
Lowest temp you'll ride in (identify scale)?
When do you "PUT UP THE BIKE" (month or whatever) for the year?
When do you "BRING IT BACK OUT"?
Do you "RIDE IN THE RAIN"?
Do you "RIDE IN THE SNOW"?

Ride in all weather types accept ice

Most of my local friends already have their bikes put away, they don't ride in the cold, rain or snow.

Do you ride "YEAR ROUND"?: Yeap
Lowest temp you'll ride in (identify scale)? 30-40f
When do you "PUT UP THE BIKE": Don't
Do you "RIDE IN THE RAIN"? Not by choice but have and I'm sure will again
Do you "RIDE IN THE SNOW"? I have but I hope to never do it again.

The snow ride was an epic. 10-15f, light snow falling intermittently, 70+ miles each way on a round trip. Got stopped by a State Trooper that insisted I pull out my license and registration... required me to pull off the snow mobile suit and a couple of layer, standing in the falling snow. Like I'd really be out riding in this **** if I wanted to or without them...

Have ridden down to 16F, and in light snow that wasn't sticking. Need a heated visor to do that again. Main problem was getting bike to start. Used heat lamp under engine with bike under a tarp, and charger on battery to keep it warm.

Gearwise, lots of layers, basically all my gear plus rain gear. Heated gloves a must for me below about 35F. If I decide to ride on snow, will get different tires, probably studded knobbies.

I pretty much avoid riding in the rains... We have an actual monsoon season here in india so it's pretty much from June to September... That don't mean I've never ridden in the rain, I just avoid it due to fear of slipping. My fender delete helps his decision as I splash water everywhere... Lol

Where do you live?: Newfoundland, Canada
Do you ride year round?: Sadly, no.
Lowest temp: Have ridden at 4*C with a windchill of -6*C, and when riding that windchill gets a lot colder!!
When do you store the bike?: Usually sometime in November, but I did squeak in a ride on December 8th one year. That was the latest I have ridden.
When do you take it out again?: hopefully sometime in March **crosses fingers**
Do you ride in the rain?: Not intentionally, but if I get caught in it whaddya do.
Do you ride in snow?: FUQDAT!!

Here in the Bay area, it gets cold and rainy in the winter. I don't stop riding because my bike is kind of my only transportation. xP

I'd ride in below freezing so long as I bundle up. Maybe not on the freeway, though.

I've found my tolernance to be low to mid 30s

When do you "PUT UP THE BIKE" (month or whatever) for the year?
Never! I don't have a place to put it up anyways. I just throw my cover on it and bust it out when it's upper 30s or so.

When do you "BRING IT BACK OUT"?
" "

Do you "RIDE IN THE RAIN"?
Yes. But only on days when I'm feeling very adventurous.

Do you ride "YEAR ROUND"?: More or Less
Lowest temp you'll ride in (identify scale)? 50*F is the lowest until i get heated gear (im talking my work commute, not 5 min down the road)
When do you "PUT UP THE BIKE": Never, in winter i make sure to go out every 2 weeks since i dont winterize it. Theres usually a day in the 30s or 40s that i can get a 15 min ride in
Do you "RIDE IN THE RAIN"? Ya
Do you "RIDE IN THE SNOW"? About 15 feet, no thanks to snow ice.

You guys make me feel like a bit of a wuss. Anything under 50, and even 50-55 im freezing by the time i get into work. (45 minute ride) Next year im looking into heated gear and liners though, i really hate not riding 4 or 5 months a year. It makes the work day so much better.

I just got back from a nice, but cold, ride.
I don't ride all year long because it's too hot in the summer (sometimes). I used to ride all year long when I was a kid but you get smarter as you get older.
I have ridden in the snow. I have ridden in the rain. I don't like either.

Do you ride "YEAR ROUND"? **** yes
Lowest temp you'll ride in (identify scale)? Lowest I've ever had the chance to ride in was 28, I would go lower though
When do you "PUT UP THE BIKE" (month or whatever) for the year? Never, for any reason
Do you "RIDE IN THE RAIN"? Rain rides are the best
Do you "RIDE IN THE SNOW"? If it snowed here I would, I'd get a ratty dual sport and slide it everywhere

I've been riding every day since I've purchased my ninja and will continue to do so ;D
I'll ride in any temperature unless it's snowing obviously but I doubt that will happen in Florida.
I never store it away, but I have room in the garage.
I ride in the rain if I get stuck in it but won't deliberately walk outside and hop on for a ride in the rain.

Pretty much the same here in Thailand but not worried about slipping ,

my landlord has tiled my driveway with nice shiny black tiles and it has a steep slope so when it is wet I cant get the bike up it safely .

I have to get a friend to help push it up even then we are slipping and sliding like a pair of clowns on a skating rink.

Where do you live (City and or state): UK - Originally from Dublin Ireland which is 53° North

Do you ride "YEAR ROUND"? Yes

Lowest temp you'll ride in (identify scale)? -17c including windchill, -4c without (once it's not too icy)

When do you "PUT UP THE BIKE" (month or whatever) for the year? Heavy ice, or snow on the ground

When do you "BRING IT BACK OUT"? As soon as the ice/snow clears up a bit & stops crunching underfoot (usually a couple of days)

Do you "RIDE IN THE RAIN"? Yes, strong winds too (65mph gusts were the highest, made for an interesting trip not knowing if I was going to be in lane 1,2 or 3 on the motorway after the next gust)

Do you "RIDE IN THE SNOW"? Not if I can help it, snow on the visor is bad, when it falls to my crotch & collects there it gets very unpleasant very quickly

Southern California, ride year round for sure!

It NEVER gets too cold. For example, it's probably close to 80 right now, 2 days after Thankgiving.

I actually prefer riding in the fall and winter here. I am ATGATT, and it's more comfortable in 60-70 degrees than it is in 80-90 degrees.

I never ride in the rain, though. No need to. There are like 340 non-rain days here a year, which is plenty.

Do you ride "YEAR ROUND"? No
Lowest temp you'll ride in? I rode 2 hours in 40 degrees F, wind chill was well below freezing before I got on the bike. I don't have winter gear. Lesson learned; too me another 2 hours to regain normothermia.
When do you "PUT UP THE BIKE" (month or whatever) for the year? After the first snow, which is usually October. The wind is a bit rough here starting in October so that complicates things.
When do you "BRING IT BACK OUT"? As soon as the sand is clear from the roads (maybe 3 or 4 weeks after the snow clears)
Do you "RIDE IN THE RAIN"? Yes
Do you "RIDE IN THE SNOW"? No. In my county they either 1) don't plow or 2) plow then put down sand. Both are a bad thing for me.
