Exclamation so today

picture this:

your regular high traffic street full of stopped cars waiting for the
light to turn green and i was making my way to the front splitting the two lanes street, in front of me a car on the left lane turns the wheels all the way to the right, so i think this -*#$@#$- cut me off on purpose

i stop almost next to the window look and see an old man passenger and young kid driving like if he was learning and the old man tells me

"keep going keep going im sorry"
in a very scared way

(trust me i dont look frightening at all no even with helmet and the gear )
i felt very bad and 1st think came to my head was the NY motorcycle incident

so the question: is this NY incident already making us all look bad to people ?
has something like this happen to you recently ??

on a site NOTE, excuse the English hopefully you get the message

Nothing more scary than an outlaw on a 250.

Well maybe zombies are scarier, but just barely.

I think the average driver already had a certain paradigm when it came to motorcyclists. The NYC didn't change it. If anything, it just reaffirmed it.

don't let the NYC event change your perspective. you did nothing wrong, don't feel guilty.

you were filtering, you have to expect something like that to happen; it seems like you did since you didn't crash.

filtering motorcycles seem to look at the white lines like it's "their" space and anyone who infringes upon it is the devil. In reality, it's a shared space that can be occupied by car or motorcycle at any time. Someone cuts you off, just come to rest and stay there. After all, that space belongs to everyone on the road, not just you. No need to bang on a window, stare someone down, take off mirror, etc., that gives us all a bad name, just as the NYC events have.

conflicting thoughts I guess, but that's how I see things, being from a state with every aggressive drivers, and illegal filtering/lane sharing...

Hopefully to NY incident makes cagers think twice before they pull some stupid move on a motorcyclist. We are ready to take back the streets at their expense.

Just be careful...
you won't have any SRs when you're a zombie, but your reaction time is like 20 times worse.

True, but my pain and death tolerance will be increased, so even if I run off the road I'll just lumber back over, pick the bike back up, reattach some random body parts, and keep riding.

For some odd reason I am treated better on my bike than I am in the car. Cops seem to leave me alone or even wave at me. Usually the car going folk talk to me in a way that seems like they are envious that I have the "balls" to ride a bike. I dunno, I haven't really received much negativity since I started riding a few thousand miles ago.
Don't get me wrong, there are always some people who tell me I'm making a dumb choice by riding, but I've yet to have been met with aggression...I'm also really courteous so maybe that helps

I think it helps a lot. People wouldn't be so nice if you had a loud ass exhaust, weaved thru traffic 20 over the limit, and split lanes fast at red lights

Not that I have noticed. Sh*t happens, flip up your visor, make eye contact and give a friendly thumbs up and all will be well. I think your reading more into it than what is really there.

What? I thought everyone drove with one hand on the throttle and the left somewhat angled outwards and shaped into a fist?

But no, I've actually been a bit more dickish on the road lately because of that incident. It's just funny to see how other drivers look at me.

On the other hand, I've been a bit more careful at the same time. I had a lady basically give a stop sign half a second's approval then assume the right of way as I was driving through. Gave her the finger and she gives one back....

Really?

Just to link it all together, nyc suv runs over bikers is the old (locked) thread about the incident.
