Help! Helmet Sizing!
So I'v tried on pretty much every helmet under the sun over the last week. Mediums were almost universally too loose, while smalls were typically far too tight. I found a few smalls that I could wear but would leave a huge red line across my lower forehead.
I currently have an Arai Signet-Q in size small (ordered from Revzilla so I could return it), it leaves a slight red mark on my upper forehead, but it isn't uncomfortable. It's the most secure feeling helmet I tried on, but it does leave a slight red mark, nothing close to the red marks I got from other helmets. Any suggestions? |

It will break in and get looser.

I just went through this same thing and I was super picky, try speed and strength. Their shell seems to be uniquely shaped, it's hard to get on and off at first but after it breaks in, it's right where it needs to be.

afaik the signet-Q is pretty similar in shape to the icon airmada I just purchased, it's hard to get on/off but when it's on there is no other helmet that matches the fit to my head, granted it sounds like you are having shell shape issues so a different helmet may serve you more. Go somewhere that has a bunch of different helmet brands and try them on for fit, whatever fits best is likely the best to protect your head.
Before doing that give the helmet some time to break in, if you still have issues after breaking in the padding then it's time for a slightly looser helmet, maybe a size up. |

Has anyone had any luck with buying a helmet that was slightly too loose and then purchasing the smaller liner size? Like if I got a Shoei RF1200 and a smaller liner to go in it?
I know people say the helmet will "break-in", but after doing some research there seems to be mixed opinions on this. I'm worried that if I keep my $600 Arai it'll never not leave a red mark. Btw, I'v tried on pretty much everything at this point. I did try on an Airmada briefly, the fit seemed pretty decent, but I dismissed it rather quickly as I don't like the brand. Maybe I should revisit it? |

the airmada is a much higher quality helmet than the variant/airframe. It's no shoei or arai but it's a much better helmet than the price tag suggests.
