The small cap four pots did sound awesome, having the rev higher to make the power does give them a f1 sound, I prefer the kawi 400 4 pot

There are bikes that not only sound like that but also go fast. I'm not sure what they are but I have seen and heard them before.

I keep hoping they'll change moto3 rules and go back to 250 i4s and maybe manufactures will start making these again.

I've been researching these for the past 3 weeks. 1990's 250, 4 cylinder machines: ZXR250, ZX2R, CBR250RR, and I think the FZR250. All of these bad boys are in Japan. Some have been exported out to the UK and Australia. But I haven't found a way to get them to the US. But honestly, the cost to maintain these things would be so ridiculous that it wouldn't be worth it.

I REALLY REALLY want one! 40 HP. Light chasis. A screamer like the current 250R. Sigh. e will never see one...

40 hp... Say, I think there's a brand new bike out there that is capable of 40 hp with a high strung attitude after some minimal modifications. It even has a stiffer, sportier handling frame compared to previous models and has some sexy new plastics. It might even be just as reliable as any modern motorcycle and has an expanding aftermarket. Hmmmmmm.

Oh right. Buy a 300

40 hp is underestimating them. They were getting so fast the Japanese government had to limit them to 45 hp. So the potential is much higher. Plus they sound so much better than the 300. They have aluminum twin spar frames and some decent suspension from the factory if I remember correctly. Something a 300 doesnt

Yes in aware... -_-

But I'm just saying. At this point, importing that isn't viable.

I'm still waiting for high compression pistons, ignition advancement, hot cams, etc on the 300. That frame is still more than capable for 99% of riders, so I'm not even considering the older twin spar frame as something to drool over

You honestly can't compare these to a 300. These are rare, unique and bad ass. The 300 is a great bike and all, but it's just a budget built parallel twin kawi. And it's readily available to anyone who wants and can afford one, an I4 250 is not.

The handlebars on that bike... does anybody know what kind they are or who produces them?

(Are they specifically designed for a cafe racer look, or are they just normal low-rise handlebars that have been rotated way forward?)

I thought so... Just yesterday (Thursday the 10th) I purchased a 1993 Suzuki Bandit 400. It's a little rough as you'd expect from a 20 year old bike, but it has great potential.

I think that a handlebar like the one in this video would be the perfect way to add a couple inches of forward reach. This movement of the controls would better match my body (6'1" with pretty long arms). I don't want the controls to be any lower than they are now so clip-ons are out of the question.

Nice score on the bandit 400. I have been trying to get my hands on one, or a CB1

Thanks, it took me a while to find it.

My wish-list was: CB1 as a first choice (so rare) with the GSF400 as second choice (love that slightly de-tuned GSXR400 engine) and the FZR400 third (usually can only find totally beat-to-shiite ex-racers).

So this 1993 GSF400 will be my winter-to-spring rebuild/restoration project (it's a bit rough cosmetically). I'm also going fit it with Fuel Injection just like I did on my EX-250 (already in the planning and parts gathering process).

I raced agenced a Yamaha 250 with an inline four. The 19000 rpm engine sounded great.. But consistanly over a year it was about Four mph over my ninja 250. It was not that impressive. And I would not want the added complexity without a good parts supply.

I've always wondered how they controlled the valves on those. Valve springs don't like frequencies THAT high. Nice find on the video. That sounds super sweet.
