What thickness (in mm) is our handlebars?

I want to buy one of these: http://www.amazon.com/ChargerCity%C2...ycle+gps+mount

But it says it only fits handlebars that are up to 31mm. I tried measuring my handlebars but they were nearly 3 inches... I believe 3 inches in mm is like 75mm... something is wrong lol I think i'm measuring incorrectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The steel tube of our handlebars (and most sport bikes) has 22 mm (7/8") of exterior diameter.

1 inch = 25.4 mm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorcycle_handlebar

Consider that the grip on the right is larger in diameter because the throttle tube.

Where are you measuring to get 3 inches? Your wedding tackle?

Measure thickness next to where the brake master or clutch perch,the measurement you want is the diameter,which as pointed out is 7/8 on our bikes
and most spot bikes.

Nomenclature is important.

Diameter is the term you're looking for. See Motofool's post.

Lol. I measured it by using some measuring tape and went around the bar.

Then, you measured the perimeter of the tube.

Diameter = Perimeter / 3.1416 = (3" x 25.4) / 3.1416 = 24.2 mm

Hence, you can buy one of those.

radius (11.1mm) = diameter (22.2mm ~ 7/8th inch) / 2 = circumference (69.75 ~ 2.75 inches) / pi / 2

Not all perimeters are circumferences, but all circumferences are perimeters.
