New Project Harley Sportster

Monday i finally bought a harley. Its a 79 Sportster XLS 1000 w/big bore to a 1200. Apparently whoever had this bike before the guy i got it from jacked up the wiring on it.

Bad
Wiring Needs Redone
-Brake light doesnt light up w/brake
-Turn signals dont work
-Only thing that works is starter button lol
Clutch, -should i just buy a kit? It costs a lil more but i figured it be better off all redone.

Everything else works mechanically bedides kickstart. I dont want the kickstart anyways besides for looks.

Good
S&S Carb
Chrome everything besides jugs.
Forward controls
Runs great!!
Already came with harley bags, sissy bar, so i dont have to buy them. Dont want them just happy it came with them so if i ever did i dont gotta buy em.

Whaaaaat it has dual front discs?! That seems crazy for a sportster, especially of it's vintage. Looks sweet though, kind of a subtle way of standing out. It looks like any other sportster at a glance, but bike guys will notice it's a classic.

That bike will clean up nice. Get rid of the sissy bar, rework the brakes, rework the front forks, put some good rear shocks and you'll have a blast riding it.

It's going to sound great with those straight pipes.

Im already doing the brakes, but the shocks feel good & forks are ok to me. Wish the fork covers were a little more chrome but ill get to that after i get everything done mechanically.Sissy bar is coming off anyways. Im thinking of putting a dyna front fairing on it. My neighbor gave me a arlen ness quarter fairing, im gonna have to adjust the handle bars though or swap em out. I took that crappy mustache bar off i hate that damn thing. Gonna put new pegs on that are more comfortable.

Got it from a farmer that took it in on a trade. Didnt know squat about motorcycles all he knew was the clutch was going out. So a pretty good deal.

Idk use craigslist thats where my grandad found it. lol When we got it the guy said the phone was ringing constantly. We were the first to get there. My grandad payed 1500 for it, thinking i would sell my ninja because he doesnt like sportbikes. He rides harleys. He just gave us a new project.

Lol i did some reasearch into that tryna figure how to tell the difference between these bikes. They say because its the lightest/fastest of the harleys.
