Talking Shiny new toy

Well the guessing game fell flat on it's arse, so it's time to introduce my shiny new toy, a black & gold 2010 Street Triple R 675...

I seemed to bring the typical Irish weather when I went to test ride it, & again when I picked it up, nothing like taking a new bike out in pissing rain

First proper ride was out towards Sherwood Forest with a few lads yesterday, still getting to know it & fukin hell can this thing shift, it pulls like a train from about 4,000 RPM & will do the one thing that the 250 couldn't... a quick & clean power overtake. It's eager to move, by the time you hear it spin up from a stop you're at 45ish mph... this could get me in trouble around town...

Took it around the peak district today, it's a bit harder to tip in than the 250, but pretty stable leaned over, the last oner commuted on it, so the shift light comes on early & there were some major chicken strips that I'll have to work off...

This should be fun

Full service history from Team Roberts, & it's last MOT was done literally 2 miles before I took it for a test ride, no advisories, last owner parked it for a month & sold it to me.

Garage that MOT'd it is owned by the dad of Jono Howarth, the TT racer that Benelli Steve from my Saturday ride group managed... (until he piloted a ZX-10 through a burger van on Bray hill)

Lucky you to live in Ireland (whereabouts?), I lived in Cork for 5 months and on another trip I walked the Wicklow and Dingle way and hitchhiked around Connemara... I miss it a lot. Insane roads for riding. I think I'd never get off the Ring of Kerry...

Your bike is as beautiful as the landscape behind it, so shiny and I like the black and gold a lot! Enjoy! Have a pint of Smithwick's for me!

I'm originally from Dublin but live in the UK now, the pic was taken in the peak district, about half way between Sheffield & Manchester.

Some of the Irish roads are crazy, great scenery but gravel & potholes everywhere.

Can't get Smithwick's here, a good Guinness can be hard to find, but there's plenty of good local ales

So what did we learn today...

She's a thirsty bitch, that fuel light means fill up NOW...

Pushing the 675 up a hill, in full leathers, from an underground carpark, after a bootcamp, with a backpack of sweaty gym gear 200 yards to the petrol station leaves me sweating like a priest in a playground & swearing like a trooper

So after a ~250 mile day playing on the bike, tipping it into some serious corners I was going over the gauges & discovered the trip meter also gives average & instant gas mileage numbers...

It's a bit of an odd one, tipping along in town, 30ish mph it gets about 23 mpg... take it on an open road & at one stage it was getting 50+ mpg, that's @ a steady throttle on a level road doing 87mph.
