you can also take two safety pins and some tape to create a thingamabobber that'll pull that key right out. I know because I broke a car key the same way and my gf just happened to have a few pins. I learned immediately after that I could start the car without the key by lockpicking it with the safety pins didn't have the tape that time but it would make everything much easier.
