Howdy from MI

Hey guys, new here, I just recently moved up to a blue '06 ninja 250 that I bought from craigslist. For 1750, I think it was good deal, and a hell of alot more fun than my Honda XL 125

I was riding last night and my engine was bogging down and wouldn't start unless the engine was fully throttled. Walked it about 1/2 mile home. Today I took apart the whole fuel system and cleaned it out, seems like the petcock was clogged. Anyway, works like a dream now, but I accidentally scratched the gas tank during the repair :P

I look forward to zippin around on my new ninja!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

I had a question about licensing, I've got the bike plated and insured and I've got a temporary instruction permit. But the permit states that I need to ride with an endorsed rider, of which I know none. I need to take the road test, which I've been practicing for. But I'm not supposed to ride the bike to the test and I don't have a trailer or anything to take it there... Do any of you guys have any suggestions, seems like a silly catch 22 to me.

Take the $25 MSF course and you don't need to worry about it!

Takes a weekend, and when you pass, you have your certificate for your license

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I had some real noob-a$$ questions I was hoping y'all could help me with. First off, there's no fuel guage on my ninjette and I was wondering how you know when the fuel's running out? I know the engine stutters and you switch from on to res, but how many miles can I go on a full tank? It'd be nice to not run out of fuel again. Also, the user manual says to shift gears so that you're in 6th by the time you're going 30 mph, do people actually do that? I've been to 6th gear like 3 times and its been 55+ mph...

This is the case where you have to use your tripometer! I don't know how many MPG you get, but I'd think 150 miles would be a good time to get more gas, based on my meter right now being at 100 and halfway.

Warning: I'm also a noob =].

As for the shifting, that seems odd. Someone else should answer (I haven't been doing that).
