Need Repair Advice

I am a new rider and got a 2012 250R as a starter bike, well I was riding the bike and stalled it out and now I cannot get the bike to go back into neutral, any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

What do you mean it won't go into neutral, which gear is it currently stuck in?

It can get into 1st, and get past neutral into 2nd, but you can't get it to stay in neutral? Is the neutral light blinking on as it passes through? Personally, I'd put the bike up on a rearstand, or even just lean it on its kickstand, and click through the gears by hand. Had you been able to get it into neutral easily before and now it's not working, or has it always been a problem with this bike?

EDIT: Wait. I just remembered about the neutral finder on these bikes. You shouldn't be able to get past into neutral into second when the bike is at a stop. If you're able to click all the way down to first successfully while the engine is running & bike is stationary, let out the clutch a little to make sure it's still in first, then pull it all the way back in, and shift up reasonably firmly, and it should go right into neutral and stop.

How did you stall it out? What were you doing at the time? (gear position, speed, throttle, etc.)

How did you get the bike to move from there? What is keeping it from shifting all the way down to first now?

I think the bike is in a higher gear than you think it is, meaning you're not in 1st when you try to come up to neutral.

With the engine off, rock the bike backward and forward while pushing down on the shifter. You should feel it click into a lower gear until you hit 1st (it should feel different), then come up slightly.

you should hear/feel a clunk when downshifting into first gear, very different than all other gears.

To be absolutely positive that you are in first, repeat this until the lever stops shifting:

Prepare to walk the bike from the riding position. The bike does not have to be on.
Pull the clutch then walk forward and slowly release the clutch while walking.
When the bike stops, pull the clutch again and start over.

Do this six times to be absolutely sure that you are in first.

Once you are sure you are in first, completely stop the bike and shift up. It should not be able to shift past neutral thanks to the positive neutral finder, which means you should now be in neutral with a functional transmission. When you turn your key, the neutral light should be on. If it is not, check to see if the light is blown by starting the bike and slowly releasing the clutch lever. If you can fully release the clutch lever without the bike stalling or trying to move, then you are in neutral and the light is simply blown.

Welcome to friendly Ninjette.org, Shannon !!!

Your transmission is in second gear.
Find a hill from which you can let the bike roll down.
Start the engine up with the clutch lever pressed at all times.
Let the bike roll down and release the clutch lever as soon as the bike gains some speed.

Brake slowly while you shift down to first.
After a complete stop, shift up to neutral and see that green light in the dashboard shine.

My suggestion is to read these:
