Light glove recommendations?

Hey guys, so I have had full gauntlets since I started riding (two years ago) and as much as I like them, I kind of want to grab a pair of light gloves (ie only go up to the wrist) for the sake of comfort with my jacket. I have small hands and my gaunlets are somewhat cumbersome. I really like ICON pursuit gloves but they look like they have little to no protection. What do you guys recommend?

Any quality brand, either a mesh textile, or perforated leather.

Personally I'm a Fieldsheer guy, all my gear is Fieldsheer, I have the FIELDSHEER brand, Fury 2 model, which is the short style version of their Apex 2 full length. They other models is Sonic Air 2, Mach 6, Air Perf 2 is a good one as well.

Reasonably priced, and the sizes run to American standard.

But for full protection I wear my Fieldsheer Circuit 2 Leather Gloves

Fury 2

Try the Rev'It! Dirt 2 gloves. They have mesh on top of the hand and get amazing airflow but there's still leather on the palm - which is your "high impact point". So you get both comfort and really good protection. Oh and they have a touch screen finger!

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to stop and look up directions without having to remove your gloves.

Those look good, I am considering rev it! strikers as well.

The touch would be convenient since I just moved to a new city and have no idea where I am going

I were told these were great light gloves at raves. Motorcycling not so much but it's marginally better than bare hands.

these would be sick on a halloween ride

Now I want those, for their intended purpose not riding

OP, these are the gloves that I wear on the street and they held up pretty well to a lowside a while back. I'm still using them though I will replace them sometime soon as the damage from the lowside last year has caused accelerated wear and it's starting to become noticeable

-sidenote: these gloves are a bit chilly in the winter

What benefits do full gauntlets offer that shorter gloves don't? I have 2 pairs of A* full gauntlets (Drystar for cold weather + rain and the SP2 for warm weather). But shorter gloves seem to be a lot easier to put on and off.

What are we compromising with shorter gloves? I mean, full gauntlets don't really provide a stiff wrist protector....so it won't prevent your wrist from breaking, and my leather jacket is tight enough so that it won't ride up my arm (I hope) if I'm ever sliding on asphalt.

So....question is, for everyday street riding, would it be cost effective to have shorter gloves?

Jacket sleeves tend to get pulled up in slides even if they're tight, gauntlets both prevent that and double wrist protection. Impact will still do its damage but slide damage to the wrists is mitigated significantly.

cost effective? shorter gloves are cheaper so I'm not sure what you're saying here

My A* SP-2's have additional padding surrounding the wrist.. They also solidify the connection between wrist and sleeve.

There really isn't any reason to wear short cuff unless you've got insanely sweaty wrists.

Mine breathe enough to keep my hands cool in Memphis heat.

DOH!!! I don't even know what I was asking there.

What I mean to ask was: for everyday street riding (commuting), is it overkill to wear gauntlets? Honestly, I do get funny looks sometimes in the summer when it's 95 degree out and I'm in tall boots, riding pants, leather jacket & gauntlets.

I was wrong again! I looked at the picture and said to myself "those don't look like my gloves!". I looked at mine and they are SP-1s (last generation's SP-1).

One can argue that street riding should require a higher level of protection than track riding, where gauntlet gloves are standard. In the end it's your choice what you go with but know that I've worn my gauntlets in >100 degree fahrenheit weather and was just fine. So long as they're perforated you're good to go in the summer

Just extra protection. TBH I love my gauntlets but they are 1) A pain to put on 2) I am pretty small and my jacket sleeves are just a little too long. Therefore, they push my gloves up on my hands so I have a little bit of extra room in the finger tips of the gloves.

Non-gauntlets will sit under my jacket so I can avoid that problem

I have gauntlets for cold/wet, regular gloves for normal weather, and shorties for hot and offroad riding
