My gas tank has funny sound

Is this normal. My fuel tank makes funny sound every now and then. Weather is not even warm yet about 15 deg celcius. I know when ghe bike is under the sun it makes funny sound but mine makes sound very often even not under the sun

Mine says "if you loved me you would take me out for a ride"

Or its the sound of the last gasp of a dying hamster.

This. Totally normal. Actually, be happy it does this and not just build up pressure instead.

There are threads around here about drilling the holes out to make it stop

Yeah, I usually just pop the gas lid open while stopped and it goes away for a while.

Via a system of ports and silicone disc valves housed within the fuel cap ...your tank is actually able to "breathe".

Fuel expands when when hot..under pressure...the valves allow the tank to "exhale"
As fuel depletes...the tank "inhales" to prevent vacuum induced fuel starvation.

The sounds you're hearing is pressure relief through the tiny flapper valves which reverberate and make audible sounds.

The valves can clog....thus creating a vacuum inside the tank...no flow to carbs...mimicking out of gas. Think finger over the end of a straw. Opening the fuel cap temporarily eliminates either pressure or vacuum.

The flapper valves can be safely removed if clogging creates stalling, which it can.
A search should reveal posts documenting the procedure

Lol- I thought I was going crazy when I'd be sitting in the garage and it sounded like the worlds smallest cow moo'd. It would happen every 2-3 minutes. Took me a while to realize what it was. =)
