Is this Ninja 300 worth it?

There is this ninja 300 non-abs on sale on craigslist locally, with about 650 miles. It has been dropped with scratches on the clutch lever, bar end, and cracked/scratched fairings on the left side only. If the damage on the bike is only cosmetic, how much would you offer? He has it up for $3750.

Also, how hard would it be to fix the fairings? Is there paint available that matches the ninja? Thanks!

FYI: New rider bought it, dropped it, doesn't want to ride again.

If it's just cosmetic go for it! Look up the prices for all the broken/scratched pieces. Total that up. See what the KBB value is and subtract the damages. Make them an offer with that price. They probably won't let it go for whatever that price is but it's a good way to start negotiating.

A nice shinny one is probably worth 4k imo, that one is prob worth 3-3.25k imo. Ask him how much is the body shop quote he got(I am sure he got a quote) and to show you it- it may be more than 1k to fix.

That is pearl paint which is much more expensive so keep that in mind. I wouldn't pay more than $2700 for the bike as it sits.

So I didn't buy that white ninja, but I found a Ninja 300 SE for sale locally (he lived 3-5 mins away) for $3900 with 700 miles, new condition and bought it for $3500!

Congratz, that's a good deal for a 300 that's just getting broken in. I think the 2013 models will be more popular too, cause the 2014's come in some ugly color/graphics combos.

Oh, wow. The previous owner is a quitter. Did he really think he'd never drop a bike?
Anyway, no more than $3k from me (if I were in your shoes). You have to factor in the cost of replacing the damaged fairings.

I have seen literally HUNDREDS of 2013 300s sell at auction with less than 3,000 miles on them. Some beginners are just too afraid to keep riding after their first crash, or don't want to attempt to fix their bikes after the crash (most of the damage is just minor cosmetic crap).

I want to bring SM man to the bargaining table with me.
We need more people like him to drive the price down on these newfangled 300s.

I have much fear that if my wife ever drops her bike for whatever the reason, she'll never want to ride again.

For me, it'll all depend if I injure myself. If I break something (on myself), I'll probably give it up too. If it's a few scrapes and bruises, I'll probably get back on.

If your a new rider you don't quit . I got my 1st bike while still in HS . A new 1962 305 Honda Super Hawk. I rode it around in country that afternoon .

I rode to school the next morning and was hit in the parking lot at school by a teacher . Some damage to bike. None really to me. . My mother said motorcycles to dangerous and told my father she wanted him to sell it.

His answer was . We went to Honda shop and he bought a new Honda for himself . That was end of subject at home.

When learning you might drop the bike or a slow speed crash. You get back on and ride and fix the damage as you can afford. But you never quit.
