Top of the line gloves, necessary for just the street?

So, I just got paid on friday and decided to upgrade my protective arsenal. Upgrading from just a denim/hoodie combo to an actual jacket and buying some knee guards. The last thing I'm kinda iffy about right now is gloves. Currently, I have some fox gloves. They are pretty basic and actually kinda thin. More suited for mountain biking IMO. I'm selling those to a friend who actually does go mountain biking haha.

But, I am a new rider and I don't really have an interest in going to the track just yet. I want good protection, and something with Knox SPS or some form of scaphoid protection. But I dont want to break my wallet if I don't need to. A couple of the gloves I've looked at were the Handroid (seems more flashy/gimmicky), the Dainese Pro Metal RS gloves, and the Scorpion SGS (a lot of bang for buck, at least I think so.)

I don't want to pay more than I have to, as I didnt plan on paying $200+ for gloves, but I am a guitar player, so I do want good wrist/hand protection. That's why the Scorpion SGS was so appealing because it was decent price and good bit of protection, including scaphoid.

I have a pair of AGVSport GPR gloves.

Full race gauntlets. Kangaroo palms. Finger bridge. Stingray hide scaphoid, outer edge of the hand and ulna protection.

And they're only $135.

Not a big fan of the whole S&M/bondage look of them, but I've been happy with the fit and quality. Haven't crashed in them.

I've always loved the added feeling of protection from full race gauntlets. I actually have a pair of Held Phantoms coming in a few days.

If you like Knox type gloves, check out these Knox Recon gloves. Only $99 shipped from STG.

http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=6963

STG always has great selections of closeout gear to look at too.

I'm not a big fan of short gloves, I always go with full length gloves. Also make sure that there's a lot of strength in the palm area. I had a $50 pair of ICON gloves that didn't protect my hand in a mountain bike crash. The right one ripped through and scrapped up my hand, and the left one got ripped off. Ever since that crash I'v invested in my gloves for my motorcycle.

I decided to go with a gauntlet style that provides pinky and scaphoid protection.

I've narrowed it down to these two gloves. They are both very similar in price and protection.

Of these two, what would you all prefer/recommend? I bought an Alpinestars jacket if that makes any sort of difference to the A* glove.

Well if was paying that much, I'd get the knox handroid. I have the rs taichi gp evo gloves and they have performed well thru two crashes. The scaphoid sliders are a nice feature and works as advertised. It's only about $200.

Check out the Cortech Adrenaline II, they have the scaphoid you are looking for, kangaroo palms and a lot of bang for the buck. ($179).

I'm either getting those ^ or Knox Biomech or Spidi Carbo Track for my next gloves.

I have a pair of Dainese Full Metal and Pro Carbons. Both are great gloves that I'd recommend.
