Cool FNG, this is a great source of knowledge

Just started riding a street bike again. Been riding dirt sence I was 2 and my mother cut my hair, my dad then took me to pick out my first bike.

I'm a Single Father with full custody of my 5yro daughter , retired Firefighter/EMT from Missouri. Career was cut short due to a debilitating injury on the job. Working on recovery and finding out what I want to go to school. For my next career.

I picked up my 03 Ninja ex250 for a steal ($400) wanting to do all work on it myself and with my daughter that loves bikes. To bring her up with the safety and knowledge of being able to not just say "I can do that" but being able to say "I can and know how to do that safe and right"

Any help will be very appreciated.

Thank you,
Ret. FireGuy

If you are accident prone, maybe a motorcycle isn't best for you, as a single parent with a 5 year old. Working on the bike is one thing, riding it might be another.

Welcome to Ninjette.org, Tanner !!!

I was five when I was reaching wrenches to my father, who was fixing his motorcycle.
Those are great and lasting memories.

Best luck with your full recovery !!!

Not accident prone. Injury was in the line of duty. If I had to make the choice again I would do it the same. Thank you for the concern. I'm about safety and want to be a safe as possible.

Don't mind CC Tanner, he is our local joker. While this joke may not be his best, his quick wit is normally pretty epic!

Welcome Tanner! I'm sorry to hear about your early retirement. I spent 33 years with the Fremont (CA) Fire Dept. , it's a great life.

I was actually just thinking about your daughter. What if something happened to you. Not a happy thought but it has to be brought up.

Welcome! I'm happy to know your daughter has such a caring father. I would have loved to have been able to learn with mine.

We use FNG in the fire service and emergency services. Then again it is structured para-military.

Welcome, pretty new here myself. Both my kids ride, double edged sword at times... Good thing is your daughter won't get on the back of the first Gixxer riding goober that comes along... bad news is she may have the gixxer riding goober behind her after he wads his up.
