everyone wants a reason to justify their hatred of motorcyclists. Doesn't matter how nice of a rider you actually are, if you're on a motorcycle, you're grouped in with these type of guys 75% of the time.

I actually ran into a group in Atlanta that sped past me while I was going 80 and then slowed down and surrounded me. They would be pretty close to my car and stare at me. They act like they own the road when they are in groups. I hope I never have to be in a situation like that guy in the rover because I wouldn't just be running away. |

In one of their other videos, they are running thru green lights, ok... but when they come to a red light, they go through anyway. A prius was 1/2 out in the intersection (because his way was green) and they surrounded him and one of them pounded on his passenger door.
That right there tells me that they did indeed pound on the SUV's door at the initial stop. And if the tires of the SUV were slashed and it didn't happen at the 2nd or 3rd stop, then it must've happened at the 1st stop after the brake check. Then there was slolaming in and out of oncoming traffic.... 60mph wrong way on the sidewalk, not to mention erratic lane changes, lane splitting. Just me venting... ...and they say the brake check was b/c of some earlier incident (not on tape) where the SUV hit another bike and they were just trying to stop him. Looking at the CBR that did the brake check, he floats up beside the SUV and looks inside. He makes no motions with his hands to tell the guy to pull over.... he just goes around in front and slows while looking back at his buddy with the camera. These actions do not say to me that he was trying to get the RR SUV to pull over... he was just showboating and daring the guy to hit him. Well he got his wish and two broken legs. The other thing that amazes me is after seeing how these hooligans act in other videos from the same run, one of their wives says it isn't fair her husband is paralyzed? really? Cry me a freaking river. Now when all of this is said and done, the asshats on the motorcycles will have ambulance chasing lawyers sue Mr Lein who will in turn have to pay for a really expensive lawyer to defend against these frivolous civil suits. Funny how things work differently for a person who has nothing to lose and a person with quite a bit to lose. A great social equalizer eh? meh.... As for why these guys act this way? Reminds me of a Toten Hosen song. Everyone lives like a clockwork Like computer programmed. There is no one who resists Only a few young people are frustrated. When the sun goes down the day for the droogs begins They gather in small gangs To jointly get ON THE HUNT. On the crusade against the Rules And the seemingly ideal world They celebrate the destruction. Violence and brutality. Only when they see their victims suffer They feel satisfaction. There is nothing anymore that stops them in their merciless fury Twenty against one Until the first one bleeds Whether with sticks or stones Eventually every head bursts. The next victim is already tuned Prophetic eh?

The way I see it, the only guy the driver might potentially have to worry about is the guy in a coma. The first guy who was hit is already being charged by the police for being the cause of this shitstorm so he already loses there. I highly doubt other people will dare to come forward and expose their involvement in the violence. Most probably aren't riding legally to begin with so they're not going to want to say anything. When all is said and done, no one really wants their name attached to an incident like that.

I would never wish paralyzation on anybody.
That being said, when you go looking for trouble. Like they did. And you find it you have to deal with the consequences.

My biggest worry out of all of this is now the public has an even worse view of riders, especially sportbike riders. I fear some vigilante cager will see a handful of sportbikes out riding, decide we're the same type of morons, and take out their anger towards us, either directly or by pushing local politicians to pass ordinances that limit or restrict how and where we can gather or ride.

I don't think Mr Lein and his family have anything to worry about in a civil suit. Meises was right there at the SUV's 2 o'clock 5 seconds and 1 second before the initial crash.
According to the facebook page created to support Meises, they say he was the one in the purple shirt / black helmet. Dunno about you guys, but I don't see a tag on either his nor the bike that did the brake check. hmmm.....

Update on this story...
This must be in the Special Edition (SE) or in this case "Smash Into Edition" Range Rover...
Sorry, jokes aside (*hoping I don't get struck by lightning now). Here is an update on this crazy story: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...rrest/2907005/

Mrs Mieses says that her son was trying to help the family in the RR.
So, he wasn't really somebody riding recklessly, without a valid drivers permit, and in the company of a gang of other bikers. He was a good samaritan who came to the rescue of a family in need with complete disregard for his own safety. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGT466EOzL0 |

Obviously there are going to be stories, interviews, ect... that keep popping up about this and we will never truly know who to believe but here is one i saw on FB.
In summary guy says, SUV guy was being aggressive with bikers, swerving at them, trying to speed up and pass them, throwing his weight around essentially. (This would not be atypical of cagers, It seems everyone is a complete tough guy bad *** when they are in safety of their cage. I've witnessed it personally more times than i can count.) So original biker gets rear ended when he is trying to slow down the SUV simply to get SUV guy to chill out and be patient. It was hardly a brake check IMO and the SUV should have been able to slow down and stop if they wanted to, it's not like they were going fast and he wasn't already on alert mode. This again does not seem like an unreasonable scenario to me given all the info we can collect from the video The rear ended biker doesn't seem to be overly aggressive with gestures and actions and the fact that all the other bikers continue past this SUV with out a second look would hint at that there was no prior major confrontation with the SUV before the Rear end incident. As video rider passes SUV before rear end, there doesn't appear to be any damage to the SUV what so ever, any dents from helmets would be clearly visible bending reflected light. Plus report keeps saying, bikers opened door, last time i check 99% of all newer vehicles have auto locks? I feel like this could be one of the most reasonable starts to the incident, it adds up for me. I do think that the SUV half purposefully rear ended the first biker. Again everyone is a bad *** when they are in their cage, and he was probably thinking, "huh try and slow me, stop me ill just hit ya jerk! (hits biker) Oh **** THAT JUST HAPPENED!! i actually just hit that biker, hmmm sounded better in my head, welp i'm ****ed" Bikers get really pissed because SUV was already being aggressive so bikers decide to take it to the next level and we all know what happens next. That's just my interpretation, I don't place blame on any one person, i think it is both SUV and bikers at fault here, poor decisions all around. I do how ever think the SUV driver made some poor decisions that escalated the situation far beyond what it had to be. The whole argument is he was protecting his family, its not 100% but odds are bikerz were not interested in hurting his wife or kid (will never know) but regardless driving over bikers and pissing them off even more is hardly what i call smart decision making for protecting your family. If you wake the undefeatable sleeping giant you don't kick it in the nutz and run away back to your village where it is going to chase you then destroy everything, you sing it back to sleep... or call for back up interview with a rider from that day. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=644163622283550

These were no bikers. It was just a group of people looking for trouble.
The first guy in the video was trying to block the RR so his buddies could take over the road. He hit the brakes real fast, and the RR clipped his rear tire knocking him down. Then his little punk kids stopped got off and started yelling at the RR driver and hitting his car and threatening him. He had his wife and kids in the car. When they tried to open his door to get to him, he gassed it to get the heck out of there. The group then followed him down the road and tried to pull him out of the car again....he took off again. At the last stop the guy busts out his side window, and the other guy stabbed him with a knife a few times....in front of his kids and wife. These are no bikers. Real bikers don't act like that. These were a bunch of punks that deserve to go to jail. And I can tell you this....you pull this stupid stuff in GA, and you're gonna get shot. We dont play that crap down here. You don't assault a family because your buddy decided to act like an ass. In the end 15 of the bikers were arrested and 55 bikes impounded when they tried to run rampant through the park stunting. The cops are still looking for the ones in the video, since they had their license plates obscured. |

There are 1000's of cars on the road, they didn't just single this guy out for no reasons. Again the bikers were probably being ****'s yes, had no intention of assaulting a guy, then SUV hits biker, things get out of control.

Disagree completely. He cut off the RR, and slowed down immediately to make the RR slow/stop.

Which IMO is a rapid jolting braking maneuver meant to startle the person operating the vehicle behind the "brake checker" I just don't think it was much of a "brake check", was it dumb, yes, was it reckless, yes, was it a contributing factor to the first accident and everything that ensued yes but I don't think the initial rear ending was completely unavoidable by the SUV that is all
