'Zook! 2002 SV650S

And now we are two... my collection has started!

In continuance of my previous adventures with the SV650S, I'm now the happy owner of a well-cared for yellow 2002 SV650S.

I got a super deal for this, the bike was in the backroom at my motorcycle dealer's where it sat in a group of older used bikes that they had almost forgotten about since nobody wanted them.

And I say they didn't know what they were missing, because this SV was in perfect condition for a 12 year old bike with 20000km! All scheduled maintenance done, and I had all perishable parts (Fluids, Tires...) freshly replaced for free when bought. The previous owner had already installed LED indicators and crash protectors as a bonus.

Sale was concluded and today I finally picked it up. And on the ride home (with lots of detours..) I really noticed how much different this bike is to the Ninjette. Where on the 250 the fun is shifting, getting revs and screaming on a fratinc ride, the SV rides so much calmer and relaxed at street speeds, just cruising on the bike's endless power wave and enjoy the rumbling v-twin.

The bike does have a few (known) weaknesses like the suspension dive, and the brakes are really weak too but that should be fixable. Coming from a FI Bike, the use of the choke does take some getting used to but that's alright.

I'm not much of a modder, so the bike will mostly remain stock. I do want another exhaust though, the stock one is REALLY quiet (less noisy than the Ninja stock one!). For the moment I'm liking the Remus Revolution, not overly loud but amplyfing the deep tones of the motor.
Might also get a bellypan if I can find one that goes well with the curvy design.

And I plan on keeping the Ninjette for the moment. For those moments when I do want to rip around at 12k rpm and not lose my license!

Congrat! I'd keep the ninjette in the stable too, but that's mostly because I still have a lot to learn, and the darn ninjette is so much fun. Also, it makes a much cheaper track bike, or so I've heard. Enjoy the new ride!

Nice pickup!
A belly pan would complete the bike for sure!
congrats.

looks good, just about the only Suzuki I really like. Been behind the bars a bit on my buddies SV and enjoyed it a good bit.

Nice!! I'm thinking about a 2005+ SV650SF (the fully faired one) as my next bike. Hope you enjoy this one

Congrats!

If you haven't already, check out www.svrider.com for everything SV (and more).

I've had my 2nd gen SV650 since 2006.

Those second gen naked SVs sure are pretty. I tried to buy one, but ended up with a fz6n instead.
