Holy crap, I took the plunge.

After almost 20 years I have gotten an auto loan and bought a NICE newer car.

I haven't had a car with less than 200,000 miles in forever, mostly by choice, but I'm tired of fixing cars all the time!

Ahhh, you'll like it! We always drove used cars when we were first married and raising kids. Got our 1st new car in '92 and still have it (374000 miles) and it still has fewer problems than the "somebody else's problems" that we used to drive.

Thanks guys, It's not brand new, but the guy I bought it from even kept gas receipts! He had every single one, in chronological order!

It's super clean, and I've been lusting for one since they came out. It's such a sexy car.

Since 1999, the only thing I have driven is VWs!

I do work for The Big Three, I get some flack every once in a while in the plants, but nothing major.

Thanks, it should be a good car. The 2.0 TSI seems to be holding up well, as does the DSG.

The CC is a really good value for a used car. I was surprised to see how much cheap those go for when I was looking around last year. I used to be a huge VW fan too. I had only VWs from 1988 to 2001, and then I drove my first BMW. Everything changed after that haha. Daily drove BMWs up until last October, when I bought my first Chevy. I never thought I'd own a GM product. Prior to 2011, American cars were just awful. Nowadays, I don't see the need to buy anything foreign. Although to be fair, my Chevy is technically an import but I love the thing.

Congrats on the new-to-you car!

Thanks, if I would afford (because I can, i chose not to) a new impala or malibu, I would definitely drive one of those. The Fusion is a nice car too. I have driven pretty much everything that could be an option as a rental, those would be my choices. I really like the CC, and I hope it likes me just as much. lol

That post might have sounded like I was knocking your choice. I realize you were in the used car market. At that price range, I think you made a good choice. I don't know what year yours is, but a 3-5 year old CC is a great value. Makes you want to thank the person who bought it new and took that depreciation hit for you hahaha.

I have the Chevy that is affectionately nicknamed the Impalabu since nobody knows what it is. Chevy named it just "SS".

absolutely, and I have A6 level content for Passat Pricing. I didn't see it as knocking my choice, so worries. I get crap about my VWs on a daily basis anyway! lol

My sister lives in Midland. I drove out to visit her last spring. As we were driving down the highway near her house I looked over at my daughter and said "do you notice anything weird" she said no. I said "look at the models of cars.. there's a chevy, there's a ford, a chevy, a dodge, a ford, a ford, a chevy, a dodge,........ oh there's a Toyota, a chevy, a ford......"

Here in the DC area foreign cars dominate the roads.

It essentially is. Sadly, it's going away when the platform goes away, which I believe is supposed to be this year.

Ahhhh! Didn't they have the Pontiac with the same platform? The G6? G8? Also had the Vette motor in it. Didn't sell well either.

That was the G8. The Holdens were brought over in limited numbers so although "didn't sell well," they really are good cars. I liked the G8 but you had to get the $40k+ GXP to get a manual and back then, I didn't have the spare change for that. 5-6 years later, those cars still go for over $30k.

The SS is very much like the Holden VF Commodore SS-V. We get the magnetic ride control suspension over here though (2015+).

Yeah the factory closes next year. The Chevy SS hasn't been confirmed for 2017 yet.

Here's my 2015 riding on Eibachs (they work pretty well with the magnetic ride control). The color is called Perfect Blue. 415 hp 6.2 LS3, 6 spd manual Tremec TR-6060, rwd w/ a limited slip diff. Only 77 perfect blue cars in the US with the manual trans. She's a keeper.

Love the blue! Keeper for sure! Also looks very good with the blacked out chrome.

Our family backup car, a pitiful '97 Geo with 186K miles, finally stumped us today. We think the starter circuit in the ignition died. We'll have to install a manual push button + relay to activate the starter solenoid ... but we're thinking to just donate the car to a repair shop. It's horrible and beat to death -- only for emergency transportation if someone's nice car gets stuck in the shop.
