Red face My never goin back 05 kinda cafe

Well I've been done for a while and have been meaning to post a build thread but was having trouble on my ipad so here goes.

Bought a 77 KZ750 and got stuck tearing the engine down so decided to do my valve adjustment on the ninja and powder coat a few things and this is what happened
IMG_0075.jpg
Before the night was out I had the tail tabs all buzzed off and never looked back
IMG_0121.jpg
I used an old street sign to make all the various pans and panels, cut it with a jigsaw, sanded the pieces and powder coated it all

Heres some installed

My good friend Rob did the tig work for me

I got a front fender off an 86 honda interceptor and used the original ninja inside support
IMG_0123.jpg
Then started on the seat. i used my original amd had my pal tig some aluminum to change the shape a little then I got my wrap on and it turned out pretty damn good for my first try

Just becareful of the staples on the ground after and its probably best to not wear crocs

Off to bed for tonight I've hit my max pictures as well, will check in tomorrow and continue

Been a little busy so heres where I left off

I had to get a little creative with a seat catch and this is what I came up with
IMG_0260.jpg
I carried around a piece of stainless rod that fit through a slot under the tail and hooked the loop to release the seat. I have since made a tab that sticks through under panel that you just reach under and release the seat. I figured since its a one of a kind not many know how to release it lol.

Then I got to work making the panels for the tank. Lots of bristol board templates were made and I used the best one to trace the shape on the street sign. A little hand bending with the help of some 2x4s and a bench vise.
IMG_0137.jpg
Then I powder coated them with super wet black and they look like this
IMG_0276.jpg

I taped off the tank to paint under the panels and ended up with this
IMG_0268.jpg

Then my parts came back painted and it was all starting to look like a bike again
IMG_0253.jpg

I taped off the back half of the frame and hit it with some universal black auto paint and was left with this baby
IMG_0292.jpgIMG_0290.jpg

But I wasnt happy, My dinner just walked in the door so I might be back on later to fininsh up

Thanks guys, @Snake, she used to be just like yours, same colours and all.

Heres why I wasn't happy. I didnt like the frame piece that trails all the way to the tip of the bike and since its a solo seat I wasnt worried about supporting a passenger. So this is where I went with it.
IMG_0302.jpgIMG_0303.jpg
IMG_0304.jpgIMG_0308.jpg

Couldn't be happier with the outcome, such a slicker look

Then I went through a bunch of light changes, first china cheapy leds for signals (they sucked). So I spent 60 bucks for 2 pairs of aluminum incandecent ones.
Then the 12 dollar china integrated tail (sucked as well), to a 30 dollar incandecent (sucked worse than the china one)
IMG_0277.jpgIMG_0315.jpg

Now I spent 100 bucks on the Joker Machine cafe style aluminum led, Its incredibly bright and I love it. Worth every penny (sorry no pics....Check them on instagram @UnshavenCanuck)

Lastly I bought some Woodcrafts and reworked my cluster a little but mostly I'm done

Any Questions? Fire away I'm happy to help

I'd have to check. They're the Bridgestone battle axe just slightly bigger than stock

I like the tail section! I think the sides need some filler panels so you can't see straight through all of them, but the bike looks pretty nice. Well done.

Really cool! The side panels on the front of the tank are clever and good looking. And I think being able to see daylight through the frame looks good: a nice "old school" touch.
