Lol, stagnant air over s motorcycle. Boy what marketing hype and/or explaination from someone with very poor understanding of fluid flow.

That said, yes I did also read that the purpose of those funky looking things was to pull more heat out of the fairings, not to add downforce. ...and they'll conveniently be UBER expensive for whomever decides to be the first to drop the bike.

Not a fan of the looks. I'd constantly be afraid of snapping off the silly wings, not that I have the money for something like this anyway.

I think it would look good without the wings, the stupid rear wheel & SS swing arm. and the tail. Other than that it doesn't look bad IMO.

But the whole thing reminds me of this

We're in luck, no street version!

Well it's time to trade in those 250s! Going from 30 to 300 HP should be manageable.

Man, just look at all the hate in here. I think the street version will be toned down looks wise. With mirrors instead of those wings it would be a really good looking bike. MV looking rear wheel looks great.

Not entirely sure how I feel about it. It looks batshit insane like the latest lamborghinis (veneno, egoista, etc) - something that far out on the performance scale SHOULD look crazy, imo. I'd be less confused if it wasn't so damn busy up front. It's new and unusual though, which I appreciate.

It's probably best to see it in person before making a judgement. Vehicles tend to look waaay different in pictures than in real life, I've noticed. Also, who even cares what it looks like when it sounds like this?

I figgered out the wings and no lower. Wings to stabilize wheelies and no lower to expose the engine directly to the wind for cooling. hahahahahahha

They've gone all out with the marketing for this thing, I imagine the controversial design was another chapter of that. It'll extend the amount of time they'll be able to ride the wave the supercharger created, and then just as it fizzles down they can release the road going version which will of course be toned down.
I'm pretty stoked. Kawasaki isn't usually my favorite cup of tea but they're being innovative and raising the bar.

Bikes have always had the edge in volumetric efficiency. It's a lot easier when you aren't expected to carry 3000 lbs 250,000 miles with no major services. Also, it's not entirely fair to compare the power of an oversquare engine to an undersquare one.

i think the main difference is in torque due to the weight of rotating assembly allowing it to spin to 14k... you would probably blow the engine quickly in a high torque (compared to a motorcycle) setup like a a typical heavy passenger unitbody car.

Nah, the engine won't care if it's wrung out in a m/c or in a car, as long as the cooling system is adequate. hp = tq * rpm / 5252. You have seen the Smart Car Hayabusa, yah?

I like how there's no street version, though there definitely will be one sometime a 300hp machine would likely be twitchy as hell at street speeds. That and given the average skill of a street rider there's no way it'd be a good idea for the people who would want to buy it to buy it.

did they drop a pricetag? I expect the h2 version to be a lot cheaper than the h2r when it comes out and it'd likely be just as insane of a track bike.

that's an even worse end result. A bike like that being run with a setup that may or may not be able to handle the power because the person doesn't have access to the kind of testing that kawi does.

It will keep it from being a busa that everyone who wants it on the street gets it on the street though.

That and I feel as though a rider who can afford a track only bike like this would be able to repair it himself if it's repairable.

i seen someone throw out $32k for the street version. Don't know where they found the number but they claim they found it somewhere.

Seems a bit ridiculous, but I wouldn't be surprised at a >$20k number on a street version

don't know where they got 32k from but personally I'd expect the price of a street version to be competitive with the ducati panigale and the bmw s1000rr which would likely be the competition they're aiming for

This low sales volume track-only halo H2R is awesome, but for the streetable H2 version, a more realistic supercharged 636 / 750 would have brought them so much more money ...

I don't even know what to think about this thing. I love it and hate it, and want it but don't at the same time. no matter how you look at 300hp is nuts in a 1L machine, more so with two wheels. The Tomahawk at least had 4 wheels

what about when you engine brake with 5 times the weight? think the trans will last very long? whats the difference in weight? smart fortwo is like 1800lbs? busa is like 500? i'm sure it would not make it through one 10 lap race being pushed hard.

I think that would be the best option for the Street legal version a 636 supercharged H2 with 200hp

Yeah you would need a car-oriented transmission and gears for a car application, but I was only talking about the engine.

Engine braking is far less load on the engine compared to full power. It's just compressing air from 0 to 140 psi, far less than combustion psi. You simply won't slow down as fast with more mass / more inertia.
