:cringe: I know its just an ad and the actor didn't really do it, but that last shot made me wince.

Notice the speed is in kilometers, 28-30 kph is only 17-18 mph.

i have taken a dive on one of the 50s at about 20mph with no gear. and one time i tucked the front end on max's 250 with no gear. no damage from those though outside of some minor scuffs.

i do have one little scar on my elbow from getting hit by a car but i was wearing gear so that doesn't count.

would hate to try to slide skin on asphalt like that though. if you're gonna crash with no gear, get away from the bike so you can roll instead of slide. if you're going slow, you can roll out of it. if you're going fast, you'll break your arms, but at least you'll have some skin still

lol there is no happy ending on this one. I think I'll stick to wearing gear

personally I'd prefer awareness adds like "look twice for bikes" type adds. Gear adds should be all over the place at moto dealers, mva/dmv, and msf (already is at msf) I feel that most people who don't wear gear know that it's bad in the event of a crash just not how bad. Crashes hurt with gear, I'd hate to go through one without. I've taken tumbles off of bicycles with no real gear at 20-30mph and they've hurt a good amount though I have ended up in downhill tumbles in dirt rather than slides on pavement.

Yea that's true. The electronic signs on the highways close to me have been put to good use by putting up "look twice for motorists, share the road." So that's a start lol. You reminded me of the times I've fallen off my bicycle haha..I would not want that to happen to me on a much larger scale!

interesting, but you will be slowing down, not going a constant speed.

A 25 mph crash on my bicycle in Lycra taught me to always wear gear on the motorcycle.

Fair point but that simulation was at a constant speed of only 18mph for 3 seconds. Going 45mph, how long before your slide stops? longer than 3 seconds with a start speed over 18mph? That means even more damage.

I dont know what language they were speaking, so i dont know what they were talking about. but my conclusion is that was cheap gear. Rule #1 for your Skin, Leather is best!

Yeah. I've had much worse roadrash from crashing on my bicycles. Of course, if I could wear leathers and not have heat stroke, I probably would.

True, but that would be awful (wearing leathers), but go figure most of the time I hit the ground on the road bicycle I'm not wearing gloves. I really need to make that a habit.
