I believe he suffered a broken ankle/foot, and at the hospital they decided to run more scans when they discovered blood in his urine.

Ted has had the worst luck (if you believe in those things)...he's crashed in almost every race he's participated in - some his fault and some not. Man, I feel for him.

I don't know how he does it cuz he's not young like most folks. Pure dedication and heart. Props!

I hope he gets well soon.

All I could think about was happy that it was his foot and not his head.

EDIT: I just went to Ted Rich's homepage because I was curious how old he is after Nemisis's comment. The guy is like 48 years old. I have to admit I'm pretty impressed that he is that old and still mixing it up on the track and racing.

Actually he just announced that because he passed blood they ran some more tests and found a 90% blockage near in heart so they were able to put in a stint and fix that. Essentially this crash caused him to get checked out and fix what was about to become a massive heart attack. I would think that means he has the BEST luck.

How often can you say "I crashed and it possibly saved my life"?

Incredible video. I'm not sure if I can learn anything from it... I think these guys ride leages above me in terms of skill.

Do we know what caused the high side?

Nope. Moral of the story is: "try not to crash your motorcycle... it's likely you'll get hurt badly. It's possible it could save your life but that's very unlikely. If your goal is better health then eat well, exercise, avoid stress and get regular check-ups that take into consideration previous family history."

LOL. I'm 48, but I have to admit that I don't feel that old. I suppose that at 28, 48 sounds really ancient. But believe me, when you get there (and hopefully you will), it doesn't feel a lot different.

Nope.com...48 is old.

Doesn't feel a lot different? At 30 (yrs ago) my whole body felt old. Most of all my friends agreed.

Don't kid yourself guys...you're old. And by that I mean your body is not like that of a 16-25 yr old. You can't do the things like you used to.

You're old. Nuff said.

I for sure don't heal as fast as I used to. Aside of experience and a few gray hairs this is the only evidence that I am old. I am fighting getting old every step of the way. I still hold my own pretty good while in TKD class vs the youngin's and the only one NOT out of breath and still going strong after an hour class in 98 degree heat and 98% humidity. Those darn lazy teens gots no stamina. lol

OH! I guess having a receding hairline counts as getting old too. FML

Take up yoga. You'll start feeling great in your body again... that's why it's such a popular thing these days.

Actually, high-siding from losing traction coming out of the bowl is a fairly common experience, Benny Solis did the exact same thing last round. Call me a wimp, but its something to appreciate about the little bikes. Although not impossible, its highly unlikely we'll high-side. . .at least not from losing traction in the rear.

Didn't Rexbo highside out of the bowl too?

The SoCal Trackday weekend I ran the 2:08s I could feel the bike getting loose and doing things that would lead to a highside when exiting the bowl. I just stood up the bike and problem solved.
