Hey
New member here. This season I'll be on an 05 250. pretty excited. I live in the city. going to be a fun season on a city bike. been a rider for a long time, i started on an ex250 when i first started riding when i was 15. having owned a few late model r6's, an r1, rc51, goldwing, supermoto's, i thinned the fleet a year or so ago to move into the city and with a recent break up (meaning the ex doesn't get the 250) i now am only down to one bike: the 250. My plans in the next week are to have it lowered to the ground, not air ride, just static. trying to source stretched swingarms for these things are damn near impossible, so a custom one will need to be made up i think (if anyone has one just "laying" around...hit me up lol). i'll have the front dropped when the clipons come in from woodcraft and hopefully have some photo's as i plastidip the fairings and spray the wheels as well. should be a good season and sharing the experience with you guys should be a blast! love this community, i have been a lurker over the years as the 08+ models came out and people took a huge liking to them on here. maybe if this ex250 project works out i'll source an 08+ model and have some fun with it! good to be on here guys, thanks for letting me on! |

Portland is such a good town for eating and drinking. Be careful this summer (all two weeks of it).

Welcome to the light stalker!
Are you lowering and stretching the swinger to avoid the 144 in lbs of engine torque from inducing unintentional wheelies? Or just for looks? I am a fan of doing things for aesthetics, so please show some pics! |

Thanks everybody for kind welcome!!
yes, the summer will be all of two weeks, but i assure you, i'll enjoy every damn bit of it like i do every summer! and come on bro...we all know these 250's produce some serious YUT UGHHH's so keeping that front end down during mad drifts and whoolies require a pretty serious stretch bro.... in all seriousness im doing it for show. my intensions are to scrape fairing everywhere. pretty good slammed ruckus community in southern maine. i would love a ruckus, but i have a ninja 250 that i acquired due to debts owed from the ex, so i really don't want to shell cash for a ruckus. PLUS i can kill them highways dawg on a slammed 250. a ruck would struggle haha. another reason for the slamming is because i never had an opportunity to slam a bike, always kept them relatively stock aside from remaps or jetting and pipes. so this will be my first slam and stretch. i'll post pics when i get home of the bike pre drop. should be getting soupys rear lowering links and adjustable kick stand in the mail today. the front will be dropped within a week following the rear. thinking about it more, i will more than likely just modify the undertail to accept a serious drop in the rear pre-stretch than stretch it when i figure out the swingarm situation...going to be fun finding a reasonably priced fabricator to do a custom swingarm. need to stop being lazy and send some emails out lol... you guys already seem fun, should be an interesting community thats for sure! |

anyways, planning on dremel'ing out the front fender well under the headlight so there isn't any rubbing on the fender. drop the front another couple inches, and raise the rear about...oh...half an inch or so. maybe an inch. i want to be able to have a passenger with me and ride around in town and not scrape as much. with that said i may have to remove the center stand to get lower, as well as trim the rear fender well so i can completely static drop it to the ground as much as possible. keep in mind, i live in the city and don't leave the peninsula on the bike. yes, its capable of going on the highway. yes, its capable of still riding elsewhere, but where its so low to the ground i prefer to not chance losing it on the highway because of bottoming out, hitting a pothole, have the fairing get ripped off, etc. its only a city bike, thus why i want static lows to be as low as possible. my office is 4 blocks from my place and it barely warms up by the time i even get to where im going anyways. idk, just thought i would remind people that of course the bike is still functional, its not practical by ANY means lol... i'll post more pics up as i take them and lower things more. BRAAAAP! |
