Cool Speakers! Speakers! Speakers!

So i added some rockfordfosgate renegade rx100 watt speakers to my 08 ninja 250 they are mounted to the rear seat they're to big to put anywhere else lmao. I was trying to figure out how loud my speakers should be, which I know that at the time I've had my car speakers louder in this area with no complaints, and one of the more "lovely" neighbors gave me his input 2 minutes after I left my house he was very aggressive towards me used so much fowl language it hurt to hear afterwards and he blocked the road so I couldn't go around even after I turned the music off telling me to leave "his" neighborhood. I've lived here for 20 years as of Monday and I've never seen this guy outside of his house once! so I took my bike home so I didn't have to deal with this guy anymore mind you it was 12 noon and there is no noise ordinance till 10:30 at night. thoughts?

If you absolutely positively MUST have another loud annoying noise coming off your bike, at least mount them in the dash facing you like the hog riders do it.

I think your neighbour must have some other issues going on (stress? depression? family problems? on some kind of drugs, legal or illegal?). Either that or you must have done something prior to piss him off and he let it build up - the bike speakers would have just been final straw that broken the camels back.

Personally, I get all the music I need from my bike from the engine!

I installed some Kicker 5.25" speakers onto my Ninja, and have used them for about a year now. I've never had anyone complain about them, and have actually received compliments on the addition. Only thing I make sure to do is use the "clean" version of any song that may have questionable lyrics. I have the amp velcro'ed on underneath the windshield, and it sounds pretty good. I don't think it should be a problem as long as you're being courteous about the usage (rolling through a neighborhood late at night with the music blasting, for instance). People go along with car radios blasting, and sub woofers that can set off car alarms, so I for one think they're an awesome addition, and don't see it as being an issue, unless the usage is unreasonable.

I've been really enjoying the sound of my lil ninjette since I got the area p. It makes a nice low basey rumbling noise at low rpm and screams up high. My favourite sounding bikes are 3 cylinder Triumphs (not sure exactly which ones) and Husqvarna Nuda 900R

Well unless there is a law about how loud exhausts/music can be where you are, I don't think there should be a problem. The guy is probably dealing with stuff like akima said.
Personally if I am doing something that I know isn't illegal, I wouldn't really care.

There's a difference between what's technically legal and what makes for being a good neighbor.

Sometimes I wonder if kids no longer get taught the Golden Rule.

Last night some a$$hat rode a Harley with aftermarket exhaust past my house at midnight. Legal? sure. Did it make me want to clothesline the jerk? Absolutely.

Yeah, I'm turning into an old curmudgeon. Tough titty.

Agreed. If it's a valid complaint I would understand, however in this case the time was around noon and I don't believe that Kris's speakers would be anymore louder that what people have in their cars(I'm not a car person but I am assuming that this is the case).
For example, one of my neighbours told me to drag my 250 around the corner and then start it up because my "loud bike" woke him up in the morning. All I did was let her warm up, I didn't rev up unnecessarily, I didn't act like an hooligan, I was doing what anyone would do when they are going to work - Start up their vehicle.
Sometimes I think that most people complain because they aren't used to bikes, other times it's just because they are frustrated as is.
Point is - I am all for being a good neighbour, if someone has a valid complaint, I'd listen and do what I can; however that being said I won't be bullied around.

It's not because you can that you should...

Baron do you have the OEM exhaust on it? If not, maybe that's why he asked you that, what time was it?

I have an Area P quiet core... I park my 250 in the back alley, if I leave too early in the morning, I push my Ninja into the street before starting it. Why, just because I don't want to wake up the neighborhood while it warms up...

And I wouldn't want some one waking up my kid at 6:00 am by starting his bike in the alley, so I do the same thing... I'm sure they appreciate it...

Smile Thank you

Thank you for some of your responses. i haven't used my speakers since then because i'm to lazy to pull the rear seat off and turn on the amp. but i will say this i had it just loud enough for me to hear it over my bike at 5000 rpm my family said they couldn't hear it down the street only when i pulled up right in front of the house and they said it was fine. and where i am located ear buds are illegal while driving not sure if the Bluetooth speakers in helmets are but i don't like that anyways at-least with the speakers i can still hear car horns over them also i only plan on using them on highway and boulevards. and the way i have them attached is the only area the actually fit on the bike. also this man was quite hostile and aggressive he got right in my face I am not one to fight over something as petty as this but i also wont be bullied i am enlisted in the marine corps and am leaving in a few months so i'm going to enjoy my time worry, hate, and stress free unlike this ungentleman who had never seen me before.

I don't think the guy realized he was a neighbor because he tried to keep him out of the neighborhood and told him not to come back.

As far as I'm concerned, my quiet neighbors are too stupid or too lazy to call the cops on the party house across the street that has drunken karaoke parties every weekend until 3am and sometimes 4am, always with half a dozen hogs with straight pipes roaring down the street at full throttle, always engine braking before the end of the street so the backfiring sounds like a gunfight right outside my window.

The noise laws in my area say to stop the noise at midnight, but the cops never come because 2 different city PD's are wasting time arguing over who gets to take the call.

So when my Two Brothers full system finally gets installed I won't have any problem warming it up in my garage when I leave for work.
