Would you remove the kick stand sensor?
I had an incident with the bike that caused the kick stand sensor to be snapped off. the bold is still in the hole and is proving very difficult to be removed.. since it is snapped in a very jagged way. would it be a terrible idea to just cut the wire up in the fairing area and solder the connections together?

As long as you dont have a problem remembering to put it up before you take off you would be alright.

Having seen first hand air care land because of a bypassed side stand switch... I am inclined to say no. Why? Because we make mistakes.

Up to you. It's not going to be a life or death event if you wreck because you'll have to be going pretty slow to make a turn.
If it were me? I know mistakes happen. I'll get mine fixed. Last futzed with by cadd; March 30th, 2015 at 07:29 PM. |

don't do it. i've seen people crash from a down kickstand with a cut sensor. if you want the sensor gone get rid of the stand.

Mine came with no sensor and I installed one. Best 7 bucks spent on my bike so far.

Mine is currently bypassed and has been for 3 years and in that time I forgot to put it up once but felt in while still in the parking lot. Everyone makes mistakes and forgets things from time to time and if your on a 250 then you may be a noob and chances are your chances of forgetting are greater. So get that switch back on just for safety reasons.
My clutch switch is also bypassed for a reason I no longer remember, probably aftermarket perch or something. |

I hardwired my kickstand sensor here with no problems, but I'm already obsessive about raising the kickstand, kicking it up 3-4 times before leaving even when I had it functioning.

what happens when the spring pops off while riding and the kickstand comes down right before you tip into a turn?

I've been riding for about four years I think. I still forget to flick the stand up sometimes. I have an unwritten routine, but occasionlly I'll be thrown off by a person, being finicky with my gloves or helmet, and forget to flick the stand up. The sensor has saved me quite a few times.
Keep the sensor, unless you intend on removing the kick stand as well.

One way I found to decrease the chances to make a mistake like that is to develop a routine. Like the way we do with seat belts....so it becomes automatic.
Every time I throw a leg over the bike, I automatically kick the kickstand up. I do it without even having to think about it (this is with 10+ years of repetition). But on the rare occasions when I'm having an off day, sometimes I don't do it. This happened to me twice in the past 10 years. Lucky for me, the bike died when I clicked down to first gear. Feel like a total ass.....but I'm glad the kill switched worked. |

I don't think my 03 ninja 250 had a kickstand sensor (someone correct me if i'm wrong) I used to think it was only a noob feature... but to be honest, I'm very glad I have it and would prefer to have it than not.
It's useful for anyone, we all make mistakes.

It's a safety device, personally I say fix it, but to each his own.
They explain how-to bypass it for testing purposes. http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Underst...afety_switches http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/My_side...27t_work_right http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Checkin..._safety_switch http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Electrical_%26_Lighting

It came with one from the factory. If it's in gear with the kickstand down, the clutch switch kills it before the clutch gets to engagement point
