Which out of these 3?
Still trying to find my first bike and I have 3 that I am going to check out this week. They are all within 10 minutes of each other so most likely I will end up with one of them.
The first is a black 2008, 2400 miles, no scratches. Said he will go to 3000$ http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/3783083245.html Second is a 2012 with 1800 miles, slip on exhaust, perfect condition. haven't found a minimum price but it's listed at 3500$ http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/mcy/3816784767.html And third is a 2009 special edition green and black, 1600 miles, scratch on turn signal, listed for 3500$. Owner says he bought for his son 2 weeks ago but the son rode it without permission and got pulled over and got a ticket. So therefor his dad is selling it now. Says the only cosmetic flaw is a scuffed turn signal. Which one would you pick if you had to choose and how much would you offer the for the ones that didn't have a firm price? Thank you all |

Not sure what the market is in Indiana, but I'd go with either the first or third one. I'd stay away from the second one solely because it has a TB slip-on and the ad states "pipes."

None of the above, watch the cincy market, about $500 cheaper for the same kinda bike and 100% for sure worth the drive.
For example, this just sold in 1.5 days; http://www.assfaultjunkies.com/showt...ighlight=ninja

I would go look at the 2012. Alot of people that sell stuff on craigslist do not take the time to use proper vocabulary plus he may not know much about bikes.
Test ride it and see if it runs right..ask if it's been jetted for the slip on. 1800 miles isn't much at all.

Ask for the maintenance records of each of the bikes. I wouldn't pay mind to either the year or mileage as long as it has been taken care of.

Given that they are all in the same ballpark, pricewise, I would go with the 2nd one. It's the newest - why pay the same $ for a bike that's 3 years older?.
Is there a warranty and is it transferable? |

Looks like three good bikes all around. I'd be interested in the third just because I like the SE graphics on the newgens (the '09 SE, not the '10.)

It's your 1st bike, go for whichever one you can get the cheapest. After a couple years of learning to ride and learning what you want in a bike, you can sell it for not too much less than what you bought these for and get something you really, really love at that time.

I'd show up with cash and try and get em for $2800. You can always walk away. They all look pretty nice, the year doesn't make much difference. I'm a sucker for black bikes though
Here in California I was asking for around $2700 for mine just to see if anyone was interested and I didn't get a single reply. Now I'm glad I didn't get a response - I'm gonna keep my bike for life. |

I'd go for the newest one. Probably has the least amount of owners, and hasn't had time to get messed with too much, or have issues with bad gas, rust, or having stuff fall on it in a garage. Time is hard on bikes for 90% of owners out there, even more so with beginner bikes.
However, it does have a sticker on the side, which can be bad. Idiots tend to put stickers on bikes, and idiots tend to buy two-brothers exhausts. Have him take the sticker off to be sure their isn't anything behind it. Either way, I still wouldn't pay $3500 for it. There is a dealer up here selling brand new 2012's for $3400. |

Specwise it's the same bike, but a 2008 that's only done 2400 miles means that it's spent an awful lot of time parked. I would be worried about gummed up fuel, flattened tires, expiring batteries, rust in the tank and whatever else can go bad with bikes that sit around.
The 2008 is already negotiated down to 3000, the '12 is 3500 list (so wiggle room on price) and the '09 is also listed at 3500. For my money I would go with the newer ride every time - especially if you can get the peace of mind of a warranty (again, not sure if it's still current and transferable). |
