Slime tire plug kit

While doing my oil change yesterday, a nail in my rear tire was discovered. I have a trip to san diego tomorrow (roughly 2 hours commute one way) has anyone used the slime tire plug kit? My uncle used it on his gixxer and said it works - just want others opinion for peace of mind I guess. I am buying a new tire online and unfortunately, shops around my area are out of the tires for my bike. I am running the battlax s20 150/16/70 and want the same size tire and same brand. Would the plug be okay to commute approximately 200-250 miles? its a very tiny nail but not sure how far it penetrated. I haven't pulled it out yet. I just bought the tire plug kit and planning to plug it after work. I'm going to pull out the nail to see if it even penetrated all the way through if not, i'll just leave it. But back to the original question. Has anyone ever used the slime tire plug kit and if so, will it last?

Yea, used it to get home last weekend. Clean the area well and do a good job plugging it. Double check it with water and watching for bubbles.

You can always have it patched from the inside ya know.... either way you should be good for your trip.

Best of luck and enjoy!

EDIT: If you deem that you not going to plug it, still double check the area for a "slow" leak with water.

Never used a slime plug but your standard plug kits would be fine for a few thousand miles. If the slime model is the same but with their name I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks guys. I do want to get it patch but im at work til 6pm and unable to get to the shop and its my only transportation. I did call LBMS and they are packed. I called three dealerships and non had my tire. So, I'll just plug it and wait for the new one to come. Thanks guys!

This is why everyone needs a RojoRacing tire changing stand. That way you could remove and patch your tire at your leisure after hours

I used the slime tape that lines your inner tube and expands to fill punctures on my mountain bikes back in the day, their products are very good.

I made a DIY on here somewhere on how to make the stand as for the bar, try looking into a mojo bar(lever)

Link to original page on YouTube.

I had a nail a few months back so I just popped the tire off, cleaned it, patched it, balanced it and mounted it in like 20 minutes for the price of the patch.

Lol turns out it is just a small piece of glass.. definitely looked like the head of a small nail. I removed it.. there is a small cut but no leak. Its the size of those nerds candy so it didn't puncture the tire. Guess ill just keep the kit just incase
