Got my dream bike

After 4 weeks of test riding bikes that I can "compromise" on, I decided to just go for it, and buy a motorcycle that I have been dreaming about for the last 5 years. Yep, before I even had a motorcycle license.

Here she is, the British hooligan in the flesh, 2012 Triumph Street Triple R.
I got my 600 miles break in service on it last Tuesday, and I love it even more. 675 triple. What a fun engine . I am super happy. Now if I can get someone to buy my Yamaha, so I have cash for mods

Two is poo, four's a bore, three is glee!

Pics pics...

Awesome bike, congrats and many safe miles on her!

I like the pre 2013 styling better with the underseat exhaust, even if they shaved some weight by going to low mount.

Enjoy and be safe!

Nice - I have the exact same bike - colour and all - and I bought it used off a Russian

Mine had 1100 miles on it when I bought it, so I got to skip the break in and get straight to the fun. It's an amazing machine - and yes, my dream bike also.

My friend has a Speed Triple and he rode my Street - he waxed lyrical about how much stuff on the Street was better than on the Speed (maneuverability, rev limit, clutch pull, weight).

I applaud your choice - awesome bike (I'm British, so I may be a little biased). Sadly mine has developed an oil leak - kind of ironic as a Brit, buying a Brit bike, that it would get an oil leak. Thankfully it's covered by the warranty, so it's going in to the shop next week.

For those that don't know British made vehicles historically have a reputation for oil leaks.

What are you planning on doing to yours?

Mine came with the fly screen (which does help with wind buffeting) and I've added R&G Frame Sliders. I want to add the engine covers, because there are expensive and important parts that stick out a lot, and I'm seriously considering some Rizoma bar end mirrors.

Mine didn't come with any extras. I got an "ok" deal, I think, considering it was the only StripleR they had. $300 under MSRP, no dealer fees, just registration and tax. It was about $2000 less than 2013 would have been. They did give me 600 miles service for free (so another $220 saved).

I hope mine don't get any oil leaks

My ASAP mods in no particular order: mirrors, techspec grips, rim tape, some sort of crash protection, rear spools, professional suspension tune, passenger grab bar, ram mount for my phone/gps,

My down the road mods: sergeant seat, slip on exhaust, dart windscreen (maybe flyscreen, maybe belly pan - not sure, I like 100% naked), front stand

With that said, the bike is completely amazing out of the box. Except crash protection, I don't feel pressed to do any mods really...

I like both styles personally. I do think that underseat dual exhaust is more of a hooligan/badass style, but I wanted ABS on 2013. Well, the dealer did not have ANY 2013 at all (they said they expect their first batch in June, and it will consist of two bikes. LOL), so I test rode the 2012, and I loved it. Never rode the 2013, so don't know what I am missing, plus I am not good enough to feel the difference in weight any way.

You'll love it - my only wish is to have ABS but I am more than content for now.

I do like the styling on the '13 - the only major drawback that I've read about for the '13 models is the inability to customize the ECU, so you HAVE to go to the dealer to get service light read and reset.

Congrats! I'd ditch these cans for Arrows, and replace rear shock with Ohlins. Those would make it near perfect... if you like its looks. I think Triumph screwed up big time with recent redesigns, but if you like it, that's great.

Thanks everyone I love it, plus I must say, I love exclusivity part of it. Noone else has one like this for miles and miles. It's just the Big Four Jap bikes around here. (and Harleys of course). It's cool to have something that is different. People want to ask me about it, and compliment it.

Someone already asked me what kind of bike is that. I pointed to the tank and said, its a Triumph. The guy looked me, and said, 'well, duh, I am not an idiot. I know its a Triumph. But who makes it? Honda?'. Hahahahahah

I must say, I still like the classic round headlights better, but these really grow on me. I like them now. Plus I love how the bike handles, and I can't see the headlights when I am on it anyway

Yeah, I had the classic headlights retrofitted, but they didn't do a perfect job, so it looked out of whack. Chances are you'd be longing for a better suspension soon enough. But that engine, oh man...

Did you have the R model? The R already has upgraded fully adjustable suspension, but not Ohlins. Just curious.

Nah, mine was Imperial Purple which was not available in the R version. The R has the same Kayaba shocks / forks, but adjustable, with slightly stiffer springs IIRC. Some pipl did a ghetto upgrade by replacing the R's rear shock with CBR's shock off ebay for $40. I can attest that CBR has better suspension.
You can try having yours adjusted for you and maybe it will be good... if not you can spring for Ohlins later. I was ready to do just that when my bike took a deep dive. I still miss it... sometimes.

Lol. Thankfully it's not a big leak - looks like the sump gasket. The oil is getting blown onto my exhaust pipes, so it stinks when I stop

So that gasket is apparently easy to install incorrectly; the folks who serviced my Triumph got it bunched once, and I discovered oil all over my bike when I got home too. They ordered a replacement gasket and installed it for free, and I just kept an eye on oil level in the meantime. Hopefully that's all yours is too!

Sweet! That's my dream bike as well, although I think if I was going to buy a new bike I'd probably wait for the FZ-09.

That being said I see that you had a FZ6 before how does this compare?

Congrats!

I have the same bike in White. Got the Arrow low exhaust, tail nip and tuck, teckspec tank grips, Chinese shortey levers (which yes, faded to a beautiful Bronze , seat mod by Spencer... They make so many after market parts for this bike I could just keep throwing more and more $$$ at it! I was looking into Pro suspension set up, but went to the California Superbike School this Spring and now at 170 Lbs the bike seems like it is set up perfect!

I am so glad i put 10,000 miles on the 250 before I got this bike. Poor little ninja is now the spare bike my roomie rides now.

I looked at the Street for two years before I pulled the trigger and am so glad I did!!

Awesome bike!

I'm in love with the sound the triples make! Inline 4's just don't compare.

I plan to get a 675 Daytona in near future myself :P
