I like the cafe racer styling on this thing. I think it looks good.

same here.

clip-ons, a better set of cans, and white wall tires would set it off

Digging the spokes and styling a lot but I just can't get around BMWs' ridiculous cylinder arrangement.

I love how somehow modern bikes can strike the right retro/mod mix (CB1100 is crisp in person, too) but car manufacturers gave us the pt cruiser and that stupid bulbous chevy.

I would ride that any day, although I'm not familiar with how the horizontal twin compares to a triple like the Triumph Speed Triple.

Not feeling the naked S1000 that much.

They kept too many styling cues from the S1000RR. That makes it look like a crashed RR that's been turned into a streetfighter. Very ghetto.

Well said, I agree completely. And whoever designed that front end should be ashamed. BMW should let the Italians build the streetfighters.

One of the rags (CW?) recently ran an editorial about naked bikes.

It was quite perceptive. The editor noted that they're cool and appealing, but not that much fun to live with. Hanging out in the breeze tires you out and it gets old if you ride a lot (he said). I wouldn't really know, since the last time I owned an unfaired bike was back when dinosaurs stomped the earth. I do remember wanting to buy a fairing for it, though. I also remember buying something to protect my neck from the wind blast.

Here's the point that had the ring of truth for me. The guy wrote that as a magazine editor, he gets to ride a lot of different bikes... for an hour. Living with a bike, riding it for long distances, that's a different thing. You can ride anything for an hour. See how you feel after 150 miles on it.

I still want that Nine-T, though. It's just pure sexy.

Bet it costs too much.

I read the same article and it gave my some perspective since I really do like the look of naked bikes, but also ride distances. Of course I already have two faired bikes so.... But I'm thinking with bikes like the S1000R and the Tuono is that with their half fairing thing they may have better wind protection than your standard naked.

For the Tuono V4R, you can get an optional Aprilia touring windscreen that's bigger than the little one it comes with. It definitely helps with the "lack of windscreen" issues that is part of the complaints of a naked or a streetfighter.

Went to the International Motorcycle Show today.

Walked up to a guy wearing a BMW shirt and wearing an "exhibitor" badge.

Said "Please tell me the Nine T is here."

He smiled and pointed.

I saw.

I sat.

I want.

It's BEAUTIFUL.

They say it'll start "under 15 grand." Theoretically. The law of supply and idiots will keep the prices inflated for awhile.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh...

February seems so far away...

I almost forgotten its existence... Which was good in a way...

Can't wait to see it in person!

Was it "stock" form or was dressed with OEM parts?

Stock.

They did something clever with the subframe. It's designed to be easily removed if you want the bobber look.

The BMW guy was talking about how they had personalization in mind when they designed the bike. Go check out the website and you'll see all sorts of OEM parts to make that happen.

I saw the video above or somewhere else where they talked and showed the subframe, that's why I asked if it was stock or slightly modded...
