Kevin2109 please keep him in your thoughts and prayers
Yesterday morning our beloved honey badger had a bad crash. It was a single vehicle accident with not many details about the crash. Best we can figure is he had a nasty highside.
He is currently at U.C Irvine hospital in the ICU. He had bleeding in his brain as well as swelling, broken sternum, popped lung, broken collarbone, deep scrapes on his knees and legs and is in a coma. He has moved parts on the right side of his body but has yet to move anything on the left. The swelling in his brain is below the major danger zone and is stable. His parents and family are with him and Max a friend of his named Christian and myself were able to go in and see him last night. I will he going to see him again this afternoon as well as pick up what's left of his bike. I will update this thread with any and all news about him and his condition as I get it. We all know kevins exploits on two wheels so I ask that this thread be kept clean of talk about his riding habits and discussion of that nature. I would like to keep this thread positive and keep his friends updated with his condition. Be careful out there people. |

I wish I had more to update but there has been little change. He is still in a coma they drop his meds and try and wake him. He still has not moved anything on his left side. They had thought his sternum was broke but it turns out it is not. I have expressed all the warm wishes to his family and his mom keeps tabs here.
I thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers and am passing them all on to badger. |

Today was a good day for kevin.
Hi guys, good day. They took him off propofol for about 4 hours and off breathing for 4 as well. He tried to sit up twice and opened his eyes twice! Still no real response per sey but doctors are happy and he is on his way!!! That was the message I was sent by Kevins mom. When I went in and saw him I think he looked a lot better. When alex went in and saw him the nurse was fusssing with kevin and alex said he started trying to kick the nurse! He has also started to move his left side. Ill let alex tell it but rest assured things are starting to looje better and better! |

he's in there. he just needed a nap. a really long nap. i've gotta admit, i laughed when he was trying to kick the nurse. honey badger dont care. kick that damn nurse.
the nurse was really sweet btw. really a kind person. she said his brain pressure levels were really low recently even while he was trying to kick her. while he was in pain and trying to kick the nurse his heart was beating kinda fast but as the pain meds kicked in he started to relax and he settled down to closer to a normal resting rate. he's definitely beat to hell. he was grabbing at things with his right hand. when the nurses were trying to remove one of the tubes going into his chest, it was obviously irritating him and he was trying to push the nurses away. got to the point where he was trying to kick the nurse away. typical badger. the nurse was able to get him to squeeze her hand when she asked him to, but he didn't understand when she asked him to give her a thumbs up. instead he just kept trying to squeeze her hand. the tube seemed to hurt him which was when he started trying to sit up and he kept leaning forward trying to sit up from the bed. he was moving his left hand slowly gripping slightly and loosening... maybe it hurt him to move it? i think the left side is where his colar bone is broken? he was obviously very confused and groggy but his eyes were both moving. though his eyes weren't open more than a crack so it was hard to see where they were pointing but the movements seemed to be simultaneous. they didn't seem out of sync at all really. he just seemed very sedated and very pissed off about pain. very good news. wish i could remember thank those nurses. they're doing a great job. they kinda have their hands full with kevin. maybe i'll bring them candy next time i visit. he's got a great room, right next to the nurses station. the place seems top notch
