Newbie in IL

Decided to finally throw in the towel and join! First things first my name is Amanda and I live in Illinois. I will admit that I sadly do NOT own a Ninja (YET!) I do however ride. As a birthday gift to myself I bought a 83 Yahama Virago 500! All the 250's in my area weren't worth the money and or looking like they were on there last leg. I know what y'all are thinking why in the world would I join a ninja forum? The thing is all the forums that I found for my bike were full of nothing but creepy old guys so I really joined to find some female and male riders to go on group rides with. I'm still a newbie to the whole bike thing and would love to meet up with fellow females and males riders like myself and just get more experience, put some miles on my bike and make new friends. So if it's okay with all the Ninja riders I would love to stay and meet up for group rides!

Welcome, Amanda! Plenty of creepy old guys on all web sites. But this group is pretty good overall.

Look for the deal of your life on a Ninjette in September or October. In the meantime, enjoy your Yamaha and enjoy this group of folks and postings.

Viragos have so much potential in them! Chop it into a sexy little bobber lol. If I ever went to a cruiser, Viragos are were its at. Keep in mind, they have a history of starter issues, especially the 80's models. If yours hasn't been fiddled with, be careful.

I love my bike! And Kscreations08 you read my mind! I was thinking of learning really learning how to ride it before I did anything but I would love to turn her into a cafe racer or a rat rod/streetfighter type of look! And I actually got really lucky I found a decent guy who was in a position where he just had to practically give it away. Before he did, he had just bought a brand new starter and rebuilt the one and had all the receipts to prove it. Every issue that I was able to find with the bike the guy I bought it off had already had the issue and replaced the part and rebuilt most of the old parts and threw everything in as an added bonus!

I couldn't help but check this thread to see where in IL you're from.

After reading your post I'm just left thinking that you should have posted up before I got rid of my 2011 250, she definitely was not on her last leg and I would have given you a good deal just for posting here! Anyway, I'm on a baby Panigale now so I'm no longer a Ninja owner, but I'm also only just a town over from you. TBH, I haven't seen many 250r riders in the area that are on this forum. I've only met one person that was on this forum and they were only here temporarily stationed at Great lakes. I have run into a couple others while just out and about but we never put together a ninjette group.

Anyway, welcome to ninjette. If you see a red Panigale 899 zipping around make sure you wave!

Benji, I was a volunteer firefighter paramedic at Newport in Wadworth... small world.

Where are you at now? If your close enough we could get a ex-ninjette riders ride together.

This one has sense in her yet! Welcome! Sorry I'm across the nation, but totally happy to have you aboard. I sure don't mind a non-ninja rider around, so have fun, and welcome.
