New Ninja 250!

Just got a 2010 blue ninja 250 with almost 5k miles for 2250. Only issue so far is that the bike seemed to get kind of hot on the hour drive home. Not sure if this is normal for a smaller bike or not. Nonetheless, super excited to ride the bike! btw I'm located in central jersey.

250s are usually quite good at cooling passively. There are some radiators only an inch high on older Hondas - CBF 250. Is your radiator fan coming on at all?

Welcome, and enjoy the best Ninjette forum on the web.

How do you know it's running hot? Have you check the coolant level? Is your bike carburetor or FI?

Welcome, here are just a few things to think about,

1.Get trained and licensed MSF Courses

2.ALWAYS Wear protective gear -- ATGATT All The Gear, All The Time -- including a helmet manufactured to the standards set by a government agency.

3.ALWAYS Ride unimpaired by alcohol or other drugs

4.ALWAYS Ride within your own skill limits

5.Be a lifelong learner by taking refresher rider courses, and advanced rider course A.R.C

This is some good advice. OP, if money is tight and you cannot afford All the gear right now, then at least start out with a good name brand helmet, like HJC or Bell, don't buy some odd off-brand helmet like I did when I was a new rider. You should be able to pick up a good solid helmet for roughly $100. Then I'd invest in some gloves... get the best you can afford. There's some decent summer gloves out there for about $30 that should fit the bill *for now*. After that i'd go for a jacket, boots and pants in that order.

Also what wasn't mentioned... wear ear plugs. Trust me, you want to protect your hearing.

Take care and enjoy the new bike. Keep the shiny side up!
